The Atlanta Braves (thread 1)

Oh yeah, the name sounds sort of familiar now. But that's it -- I can't say I remember the actual player at all. B-R says he played for the Braves only in 1994, that he played in 89 games, 77 of which were in the outfield -- and only one of which was at 1B. Yet 16 years later, you remember it. Five bucks says you went to that game and spent the whole time being pissed off that Gallagher was playing first.

I realize now why I don't recall him - I don't recall much from my sophomore/junior college years.

Heard this last night and couldn't believe it so I looked it up. The Braves are 3rd in the NL in runs scored behind the Reds and Rockies. So basically they are the highest scoring team not playing in a softball stadium. Just wish they'd spread the runs out a little more judiciously.

If you want to see stat that makes no sense when looking at the top of the NL team runs scored list, check out who leads the NL in times shut out.

No idea why anybody pitches to him; especially with the bases empty.
As a former pitcher (high school/summer ball) I know it's day and night difference but I agree. He allowed one batter to take the Braves out of the game basically. Bad, bad decision.

Maybe it is possible that Nate McClouth is no longer a worthless bum...
He's definitely been raking the last 3-4 days. The upper cut isn't nearly as pronounced as it was earlier.

. . . and I'm not sure what is going on, but Derek Lowe looks like an actual major league starting pitcher tonight.

One byproduct of the Braves recent downturn . . . Billy Wagner is rested and extremely nasty. He's throwing it so well that he almost looks bored.

It might also be helpful to face the Nats every time out.

Well, it is Lowe. All things are relative. Up until last night he was terrible against the Nats this year. It is bad when Lowe is the guy to count on to put away a bad team. First the Pirates and now the Nats.

Jurrjens has just gone in the toilet the last few times out. That ball that Dunn hit looked like something that happens in slow pitch softball.
