The Atlanta Braves Thread

LWS just dropped this..... Martinez will be back.
a couple of comments..

his contract is good until end of February so he is still under contract.

he could have already been extended and it hasn't been announced. No reason too. I know what you say, but recruits don't keep up with that. they listen to what they are told.

Typically, Tennessee takes as long as 6 months to finalize contracts. In fact, that is the norm. So we may not hear anything until May or later.

Willie Martinez will be the CB coach next season. In fact, there will be no coaching changes on the staff...

I can't believe this thread is still active...

Been around here 20 years and I don't know if it's something about the sport or what but Basketball has always tended to have a superiority vibe for some reason. I've never really understood it.
In a general sense, I see how it happens. People do it with other things like bands/music. Someone you know likes an obscure band that isn't popular. When/if that band starts to get a wider audience, they'll talk about how all the new fans aren't "true" fans, say they don't appreciate the band like they do, don't know the band like they do, or might even cease being a fan of that band altogether because it isn't mysterious and cool anymore.

I don't know why the basketball forum is like that and not baseball though. I've never gone in there, but the Lady Vols forum is supposedly the same way. Honestly, it kind of mirrors the disposition of a lot of fans at TBA. I have only been to 5-6 Tennessee basketball games in my life and have been told to sit down or move out of someone's way multiple times. It's like an art museum or opera crowd that is there. I've been to dozens of football games and have never been told that once.

I had season basketball tickets during the Mears and Houston regimes and saw some terrific games and players.

I have not been to a Tennessee home football game since 1983.

I had season baseball tickets during the Helton and Trammell seasons.

I enjoyed basketball and baseball games more than football games.

My wife and I let our daughter shop for whatever she wants to get the other for Christmas each year. That’s how I got the greatest gift ever last Christmas

Today they were brainstorming about what to get me and my daughter said she wasn’t sure. My wife said well what does daddy love? Without hesitation, my daughter responded “that’s easy, daddy loves spending time with me”

Mornings are early, nights are late and I’m far from perfect.. but man I’m victory lapping tonight

Despite all the gnashing of teeth, of which I’m a part of, ZIPS projects us as having 100 wins. Which is super rare.

With all the details on the Ohtani contract rolling in..

The dodgers got a steal.

The only negative I could REALLY find for that contract (other than the controlling owner/Friedman leaving gives Ohtani an opt out) is with deferred money they do have to set that aside every July every year for him. But that is worth it saving $24M off the tax hit each month.

Friedman about to be wheeling and dealing like it's a video game.

3 random prospects for Trout no big deal.
Bergman wants to be traded, good news you're a Dodger.
Soto don't like NY. How does 40 million with most of it defferd look?
