I've always been amazed at how the way professional sports salaries work is so different from the real world. Frenchy's most (only) productive years were 2005-07. He made not even $1m in those years combined. He made about $26m the rest of his career. The single year he made the most money, 2013, he went .204/.238/.298 and had an OPS+ of 48. Brought in a cool $7.5m.

Even if you aren't a very good player, if you're good enough to get a contract extension you can still make life-changing money.
