IIRC, Clowney's last season actually was something of a stinker. He drew all kinds of attention obviously, but he showed up to camp that year out of shape and was completely gassed midway through the first quarter of their season opener. Didn't hurt his draft stock though.Myles Garrett had 8.5 sacks his junior year and very few came in SEC play. Clowney had 3 total. Stats arent always a great indicator in college football for edge/de play
True. The point being that defense was 2nd in the SEC and 7th nationally. And a lot of it was because of game planning around ClowneyIIRC, Clowney's last season actually was something of a stinker. That dude's had a really interesting career. I don't think you can label him a bust, but he was billed as a franchise-changing guy who could get into the backfield at will...that he was for only one year at USCjr. I still think he's most remembered for that one hit/fumble on the Michigan RB in that bowl game.
