The Atlanta Braves Thread

He isn't overrated purely because of the 2021 trade deadline moves alone. Whether that was luck or not, those ended up being some of the best deadline deals by any GM in recent memory.

Having said that, there probably has been something of a halo effect around him since, because it has been fairly hit or miss. Not a lot of consistency.
The list of dumb ass trades is LONG

Hey recruiting-knowers: Is there a chance our WR class next year with Faizon is Tristen Keys, Joel Wyatt, Tyreek King?

My son dressed up as Dark Mode Bru for Halloween. My son will contribute more to the game Saturday than Gerald Mincey will. Just planning future costumes.

There is a chance. Not sure how high the staff is on Wyatt, but they love Keys and King.

He's a solid GM

I ****ing hate how he runs and constructs his baseball team

Not enough of a sense of urgency, and a little too much "look how smart I am."

In your NCAAT office pool, you know the guy who watches a ton of CBB throughout the year and is really knowledgeable about it, and when filling out their bracket gets in their head and goes a little crazy with the upset picks? That's AA.

It reminds me more of Mike Tomlin with the Steelers. Is Tomlin a good coach? Yes. Does his system work? Yes. Would it drive me crazy if I was a Steelers fan? Also yes.

Just a few of the more irritable moves

Not giving Charlie Morton a 2 year/$30M deal when he wanted to be a Brave and then turning around and giving Dallas Keuchel and Cole Hamels $31M over those two years

Giving up on Kevin Gausman

Not trading any legitimate pitching capital when we had a bevy of farm system arms

The William Contreras/Sean Murphy swap

Giving relievers long term deals but balking at giving Freddie Freeman a 6th year

How he treated SS after letting Dansby walk

Getting zero return on Freddie, Dansby, and Max is going to be wild.

Not signing Bryce, then giving out the same AAV

And the list above discounts his transaction history in Toronto

Off the top of my head - traded away Joe Musgrove, Noah Syndergaard and ironically TDA

It's insane he was too aggressive in Toronto and then swung wildly the other way in Atlanta. You can find a medium my guy I swear!

To be fair 3 teams gave up on Gausman and he wasn’t good until he was 30.
