The Atmosphere of Neyland Stadium.

I've given the University some ideas on pregame and third-fourth quarter things to get the crowd better involved. My contact ws supposed to take some of the ideas to the meeting, which was postponed and I havne't heard anything back.

Most stadiums have a tradition between the third and fourth quarters, and Neyland needs to join in that. Notre Dame's cheerleaders went out and just held up signs, leading a cheer that got half the stadium to yell one thing, and the other half to finish the cheer. With 105,000 (less now because of club seating), you wouldn't need to do much, just get the voices to yell together and let the numbers do the rest.

Hopefully they got the message.

Like I said in a earlier post on this same subject, coming to Tennessee games for lots of people is a matter of social staus. They like the Vols, yes, but they don't have PASSION. There's a diffrence, you love a women you protect her and such, you have passion you gets down and dirty and don't give two d**ns what people think. I have passion, if everyone was like me and I'm sure theres some right here with me if there were 107,000 of my ass in that stadium they'd call a noise violation or two. When I'm in Neyland on a Saturday I could whip Goliaths a**, theres so much adreniline running through me it's crazy. My nipples get hard when they start forming the T, how about that for passion.

Well, like it or not, it is a very social atmosphere surrounding CFB games. It might be kinda wierd being the only person watching in Neyland. The people I hang out with there are a big part of the whole experience. It makes a Football Saturday in Knoxville the greatest place in the world.

Was talking to a new neighbor from Buffalo, NY a few years ago and was telling him I would get goosebumps when I heard John Ward say "It's football time in Tennessee" on radio. He said you have goosebumps right now. I looked down at my arm and I'll be dipped if I didn't have goosebumps just thinking about Tennessee football.

This post about goosebumps from UT football gave ME goosebumps.

When was the last time you saw UT blown out of a game? I understand your negative by nature (according to post of yours I've read) but we don't get blown out.
I'll stick with the Fulmer era:
UF 31- UT 0 1994 Neyland
UF 62- UT 37 1995 Swamp
Neb. 42- UT 17 1997 Orange Bowl
Bama 34 - UT 14 2002 Knoxville
Miami 26- UT 3 2002 Knoxville
Maryland 30- UT 3 2002 Peach Bowl
UGA 41- UT 14 2003 Knoxville
Auburn 34- UT 10 2004 Knoxville

I'd also characterize the 41-21 drubbing UT took last year at South bend as a blow-out.

I know college football is very social , but its social to the point where it's like I don't want to look like an idiot in front of all these people kind of social. I live in NC and I had a Power "T" hat on and this girl at a store was like you like Tennessee? I said I love them. She explained to me how she went to a game and now she's just in love with UT. She went to one game and got teased and she said she'd give anything to go to another football game. Theres people in Knoxville that hold season tickets that don't have the passion of this girl and she's a Eastern Coast girl born and raised over here. You can just tell when you talk to people if there BS'ing you. She wasn't, she couldn't quit smiling, and loved everything about the Vols.

Also, I was at the 2003 Tennessee vs. Georgia game. Maybe the lowest point in my life, besides the season we will not speak of.

OK, this thread was going great until we started talking about VOL losses... what's that all about?

Back to the point - I also get VERY emotional before kickoff of a big game. When I'm not at Neyland, I'm pacing in front of the TV, can't sit still for a second... adrenaline flowing, usually playing rocky top during the commerical breaks.

When I am at Neyland, I'm loud. I agree with the sentiments of others. If you go, help the VOLS win, be loud. If you're not willing to help the team win then watch from home and let the true fans get the seats.

Typical NegaVol Mantra is what happened to this thread.

Thanks negavols for ruining my first thread! man

The thread was ruined when someone was confronted with information against which he was unable to argue. Dumbfounded, he resorted to the "Negavol" response.

Mr. Orange was joking, I think.

I don't like when funfilled threads get turned into arguments, regardless of who started the argument.

Quit Whining.

I brought up the NegaVols, not the person who was presented the losses.

I'm so glad that the demise of the NegaVols is so close. A great season will see them scrambling to climb back on the bandwagon, all the while I will be on the end, pushing them off with the bottom of my boot. :superman:

OS, you and I get along pretty well, so hear me out:

I promise you 100% or 99.9% of VN Vol fans want UT to succeed. No UT fans WANT UT to lose. I promise.

That makes sense. Complaining about a 5-6 season and so many off the field problems that your team has become synonymous with legal troubles really means you've jumped off the bandwagon. We should have been praising Fulmer for almost pulling off that victory against Vanderbilt.
