Milo, maybe you have more knowledge on the subject, but the part I don't understand is how teams can schedule in-season neutral site games and make money. Then, we get to the bowl games, and a third party cashes in, while the schools are in the red. Perhaps it's because said in-season games usually involve a couple of popular teams. My point is, basically, if they can stage in-season and conference title games without bowl committees, then why do they need these corporate groups for the postseason? Or are the Chick-Fil-A Classic and other in-season games run by the same cronies? There's also the fact that the rest of the league is sharing the bowl revenue, but the teams are also getting money from the bowls that their conference rivals play in.
