The "Big Fish" Quarterback Rumor

Not sure what Clawson could do with his type of players and a few more years to work with, but from his limited time, he didn't appear ready for this level of football and didn't make any adjustments during games. To give him credit, it was ridiculous to put last year's players in a spread system. That was Fulmer's fault for even hiring him at the time. Clawson was not the type of OC meant to come in and immediately thrive at UT.

Of course you know what he would do.

Other than UT, Clawson has been successful everywhere he's been. By his own admission, it takes a couple of years to implement his system and that's if his players are smart enough to grasp the concepts. In much the way that UM studied the spread option in his Bowling Green days and implented it along the way, Clawson has not yet figured out how to teach it on the D1 level or at the speed which demanding SEC fans would demand which is...getting the offense well versed in the spring and effortlessly executing in the fall.

That may have been because he was calling a very good game only to see the players not execute. Repeatedly he made the right call only to see a WR, OL, RB, or QB break down.

Actually, he looked like a scared kid from the very beginning of the game...I was amazed at how "deer-in-head-lights" he looked at the kickoff when they flashed to him. I told everyone I was watching the game with, "oh crap, that doesn't look good."

I'm actually still trying to find a screen capture of that shot...I could really use it around here, but I can't find it.

Spread system? Did you watch any games last year?

Clawson didnt work here because the system was too complex in one year with all the lineman flipping and the different reads.....

We are not evaluating the coaches based on a few spring practices. Lane Kiffin was co-offensive coordinator at USC. That speaks for itself. Monte Kiffin the best defensive mind in all of football. His defensive statistics prove that. Ed Oregeron the best defensive line coach. Jim Chaney a great offensive mind. He made purdure and Drew Brees. Eddie Gran the best running backs coach and special teams coach in the SEC. And one other thing, they all can recruit better than anyone in the nation.

You are an absolute idiot for making that statement!

By the way Clawson is awful and took a pay cut going from OC at TN to head coach at BG. Id rather coach High School football than coach at BG. Clawson was way over his head coming to the SEC. You saw that first game against UCLA when he was in the box. Every time the camera showed him he looked like he shat on himself. Not to mention throwing the ball 41 times, when we are averaging 5-6 yards per carry.

For making what statement? That a person cant evaluate how Reaves coaches qbs vs Clawson by watching a few spring practices?
Secondly, to say you would rather coach at a Highschool than BG is idiotic.

Did you watch any of Clawson's games at Richmond? That was not Clawson's full offense last year because he didn't have the player's to run it his style, so he compromised. It looked like a cross between his offense and Cut's offense. Was horrible.

That's because he ran what Fulmer let him run.

Ha ha. He is a head coach. Reaves is a qb coach. ENOUGH SAID.

What does that have to do with your amazing insight into the minds of other coaches? Coaches don't hire head coaches, so that is irrelevant. I'm sure Cutcliffe was held in higher regard than many head coaches when he was our OC.

I honestly don't even care about this debate, but it's just funny to see people claim to know things they obviously have no idea about.

The difference between Clawson and Reaves is, their duties to this team. One is in charge of the QBs,(at least in title) the other, was in charge of the entire O. Basically meaning there is not much to compare between the 2.

I didnt say that I had 1st hand knowledge from different coaches. Learn to read. There were articles written about how well thought of Clawson was.

2nd, the debate was how a person, who watched a few spring practices, knows how Reaves will coach vs Clawson.
Again, learn to comprehend reading.

Possible news? Down the road? Gotta give us better teasers than that to stay interested!

By the way, great job on the reporting, really has taken the recruiting forum to new heights!!!!

My guess is it's someone out West considering that's an area of work interest for you, plus the timing of the post!
