The "Big Fish" Quarterback Rumor

Clawson is still thought of as a very talented OC despite what happened here. The comparison was Clawson and Reaves.
Does anyone REALLY think that Reaves would have gotten this job unless he was related to Kiffin?

Lol, don't try to pretend like you have some inner knowledge of what coaches think of Clawson. You don't.

Despite what UT fans may think of him, Clawson has been the head coach at 2 colleges. Reaves has been no more than a QB coach. Secondly, after a losing season, Clawson was hired at BG.

Regardless of all this, to claim you can evaluate coaches by watching a few spring practices is crazy.

We are not evaluating the coaches based on a few spring practices. Lane Kiffin was co-offensive coordinator at USC. That speaks for itself. Monte Kiffin the best defensive mind in all of football. His defensive statistics prove that. Ed Oregeron the best defensive line coach. Jim Chaney a great offensive mind. He made purdure and Drew Brees. Eddie Gran the best running backs coach and special teams coach in the SEC. And one other thing, they all can recruit better than anyone in the nation.

You are an absolute idiot for making that statement!

By the way Clawson is awful and took a pay cut going from OC at TN to head coach at BG. Id rather coach High School football than coach at BG. Clawson was way over his head coming to the SEC. You saw that first game against UCLA when he was in the box. Every time the camera showed him he looked like he shat on himself. Not to mention throwing the ball 41 times, when we are averaging 5-6 yards per carry.

From some sort of lame clue on GVX from a guy who 'suposedly' knows who the whale is it is rumored to be Star Jackson from Alabama. The clue was to look up in the sky tonight or something asinine like that. It seems far fetches considering Saban would have to release him to UT.

He can still come here even without a release. Not getting a release only means two things:

1) He can't have any contact with the coaches until he enrolls at UT.

2) He can't be put on scholarship his first year at UT.

That being said, I don't think there's any truth to that particular rumor. JMO

Unless he paid for a year of college himself like Marve was going to do if he came to Tennessee. I don't know why Jackson would want to do that though. Maybe his family can afford it or he feels this is the best place to get playing time with a staff that could propel him to the NFL. That's if the rumor is even legit. I was just throwing it out there that Jackson could technically end up a Vol and play next season.

You mean like Meyer? Maybe someone else was the idiot for not realizing that Meyer started at BGU.

Clawson was way over his head coming to the SEC.

Clawson inherited a team that couldn't learn his system in one season. Over the course of his career, it has taken a couple of years to get his system going... then it was close to unstoppable.

Clawson's biggest problem was thinking Fulmer was secure enough to let him get better talent in and get his system going.

That may have been because he was calling a very good game only to see the players not execute. Repeatedly he made the right call only to see a WR, OL, RB, or QB break down.

Clawson is a quality coach... and anyone who attempts to judge him based on his one season with UT is an absolute idiot. He inherited those problems. He didn't create them. If he'd had the control that CLK has then maybe things might have been better... but the Vols needed a complete physical, mental, and emotional makeover but CPF thought it only needed tweaking.

You are the idiot. Clawson is a fine coach and a good OC. Do you realize who was the coach at Richmond the year before last. Yeah, Clawson! Those kids that won it for UR were all Clawsons kids. Not taking anything away from London because he did a great job but you have to admit the talent was all Clawsons.

Listen here DAVE, coming on a UT message board and lobbying for / defending yourself and your system is not going to change my opinion of you, your performance last year, or your scheme.

Now, I understand you are a little uptight because you were the laughing stock of an entire conference last year, but I think your time would be much better spent in the film room or practice field trying to squeeze 2 years of "clawfense" into one offseason with Bowling Green.

Making derogatory comments about "The Old Battle Captain" doesn't outweigh the fact that our entire offensive line has basically called out your scheme as the most obvious reason for the blasphemy UT tried to present as a viable offense last season. SHAME! SHAME ON YOU, MR. CLAWSON!!

(Sorry for the jabs, but the quoted poster being Dave Clawson is the ONLY reasonable explanation for making such preposterous and irrational claims)
