Clawson is still thought of as a very talented OC despite what happened here. The comparison was Clawson and Reaves.
Does anyone REALLY think that Reaves would have gotten this job unless he was related to Kiffin?

Despite what UT fans may think of him, Clawson has been the head coach at 2 colleges. Reaves has been no more than a QB coach. Secondly, after a losing season, Clawson was hired at BG.
Regardless of all this, to claim you can evaluate coaches by watching a few spring practices is crazy.

From some sort of lame clue on GVX from a guy who 'suposedly' knows who the whale is it is rumored to be Star Jackson from Alabama. The clue was to look up in the sky tonight or something asinine like that. It seems far fetches considering Saban would have to release him to UT.

You mean like Meyer? Maybe someone else was the idiot for not realizing that Meyer started at BGU.You are an absolute idiot for making that statement!
By the way Clawson is awful and took a pay cut going from OC at TN to head coach at BG. Id rather coach High School football than coach at BG.
Clawson was way over his head coming to the SEC.
That may have been because he was calling a very good game only to see the players not execute. Repeatedly he made the right call only to see a WR, OL, RB, or QB break down. You saw that first game against UCLA when he was in the box. Every time the camera showed him he looked like he shat on himself. Not to mention throwing the ball 41 times, when we are averaging 5-6 yards per carry.
Clawson inherited a team that couldn't learn his system in one season. Over the course of his career, it has taken a couple of years to get his system going... then it was close to unstoppable.
Clawson's biggest problem was thinking Fulmer was secure enough to let him get better talent in and get his system going.
Clawson is a quality coach... and anyone who attempts to judge him based on his one season with UT is an absolute idiot. He inherited those problems. He didn't create them. If he'd had the control that CLK has then maybe things might have been better... but the Vols needed a complete physical, mental, and emotional makeover but CPF thought it only needed tweaking.
