The Big Tech March to Silence Free Speech

You mean the same s**t people (leftists/radicals) have been allowed to do on Facebook and Twitter for years?

And those people should have been banned as they would be just as wrong.

Again, this is private business weighing the pro's and cons' of the fallout and making calculated business decisions.

If you don't like twitter, amazon or facebook - STOP USING THEM.

Maybe we just need consumer unions that can wield power to keep these monopolies in check.

So if you were living in the 1800's and wanted to travel to San Francisco via train from NY, you'd be okay if the conductor said they don't allow Irish on their trains and you have to take the stage coach?

Would I like it? No, of course not - but no one is being banned from Twitter because they belong to what we now acknowledge as being a protected class, so the analogy doesn't compute.

That's the beauty of the free market - if enough people didn't like it and found it insensitive or offensive, you stop doing business with them and they go out of business.

That's the free market at work. Weird that I keep having to remind everyone of this.

I'm not talking about Twitter, I'm talking about killing a competitor to Twitter, you know Parler. Why did the big tech companies kill a competitor? They aren't the overlords of righteousness and what is right or wrong in this world. You know it and I know it that these companies are exerting their power after the election. This is a scary time for this country.

Tulsi seems like a gem compared to other politicians. If what she is asserting is accurate, then tech platforms are become much more like news platforms (she mentioned NYTs) and less like a neutral host of content. It means the tech platforms should be held to the same standards as news publishers.

Tulsi is a gem. Too good for congress. She is someone whose political views can be completely different from your own but you still respect more than those politicians you might side with. Even knowing her views are significantly different from mine, she is the only politician I would have wanted to vote for this last time around ... because of her decency and apparent honesty.

That's what got her blacklisted by the Dems. Checked every minority mark they wanted, but she wasn't a puppet. Slaughtering Kommie Harris also killed her in the party.

Unfortunately our divided country seems to only support extemists on one side or the other. I feel the same way about her, she was the only level headed person that was running.

AWS removed them for their reasons and Google and Apple removed the hosting each for their reasons. I can see how one might look at the end result and not put any effort into why each of these companies did what they did, but individually they weighed their options and made the business decision not to be associated with an aggregator of violence.

Look at it this way, the same folks on Parler are largely the same folks who are swiping right on Farmers Only - except they aren't plotting insurrection or sharing gallows building advice for Pence.

When Farmers Only starts allowing it, they'll probably ban Farmers Only from the Play Store and Itunes.

She's principled. I think she has more of a future helping others behind the scenes.

What really caught my attention about Tulsi was during the impeachment. You have an impeachment including charges for interfering with potential competitors in a presidential election, and people participating and voting in the process were themselves potential competitors in the 2020 race against Trump. Tulsi is the one person who chose not to make herself complicit of conflict of interest.

It's easy when all you're advocating for is the ability for a business right to choose.

Not so much for those who want it both ways.

If folks want to keep bringing up a turd of an argument, I'll keep pointing out that it stinks.

What about anti-discrimination laws that apply to privately owned businesses of public accommodation? And yes, the internet and streaming platforms such have been ruled by the courts to be public places since they are available to the general public.

The law states that you can refuse service to someone, but the refusal can't be arbitrary or apply to one group of people. To avoid being arbitrary, you must have a reason for refusing service (check), and you must be consistent (NOPE).

Political affiliation isn't a protected class.

Aggregator of violence. Lol

When your business is dependent on other businesses, it's the risk you take - especially when you are the match maker for violence and insurrection parties.

Can we please stop acting like the users on Parler were having Bible reading parties and weren't promoting and advocating insurrection and violence?

They have 15 million users. You're kidding, right? There are crazy people on many sites promoting violence. That isn't Parler's platform, and they are no more responsible for insurrection than other sites on Amazon.

Up to the moment of confrontation and every moment since is irrelevant to what happened during it.
Ok and again Zimmerman was an idiot for being a Karen and Martin was an idiot for leaving his dads porch to go assault a guy just standing there

I mean one was killed with a hand full of skittles and Mountain Dew, and one was around to tell his side of the story.

It was just a matter of time before the Skittles and Mountain Dew got him, so ...

BS. Here's another example. They're banning per their agenda. Good for Uganda here.

I don't recall the details but I don't think any one would confuse either one of them as being rational adults.

Uganda shut down the platforms? There's a distinction and difference if the government did it.

Also, was the shut down for every one? If so - that's probably a good thing. Social media is cancer I hope twitter dies a slow painful death, but I'll still advocate for them being able to make the decisions that lead up to it.

It's surprising no one else but me appreciates the free market.
