The Blind Side

If that had been a rich couple from TN, GA, or especially AL, trying to adopt a kid off the streets just to play football, there is no way on the face of the Earth the NCAA would have cleared the kid to play. There are many poor kids all over the country that are not superstar athletes and they need help too. Where are the Tuohys when those kids need help?

Don't forget Trading Places! Or any Tyler Perry movie.

Tyler Perry movies are the worst.

All the characters are one-dimensional, with one primary flaw, but just before the movie ends someone mentions Jesus and everyone lives happily ever after.

So you're telling me that Tyler Perry movies are like Uwe Boll fantasy epics? I've never seen one (weird I know), only the previews unfortunately.

The movie did suck though. A better story would've been Patrick Willis' story who was also helped by evil white people in Bruceton, TN and had to raise his own siblings at the same time. He was helped to get in to Ole Miss too.

Yeah then ey can show Fulmer turning him down for UT also. :banghead2:

I don't know about racist but the movie does suck. It's over-sentimental garbage that's as cookie cutter and shallow as an episode of Full House. It depicts almost everyone except for Bullock's character as an idiot. The football in the movie is horribly unrealistic. And the acting, my goodness it's awful. For the life of me I can't believe Bullock won Best Actress and that the film got Oscar buzz.

10-15 years people will look back and laugh that this movie was considered good.

This!!!

2 of the blindest groups of people in the world are the ones that throw the race card no matter what, and equally as bad are the ones who fail to acknowledge that racism still exists.

I agree but would add the ones that believe that whites are the only ones that are racist. Nepotism is 2nd nature no matter where you are from or color.

The thing I don't like about this story is that they try to act like the Tougys had no alternative motive for taking him in.

Lots of stuff left out of the story, believe me, we live it daily.

Meaning??? Don't leave us hanging....

I actually thought it was interesting how most of the coaches have been canned or moved since then...then again, it was about 6 years ago os so that movie was made...

Every coach in the movie was representing a school they no longer coached at the time the movie was released. I'm making up/guessing that the NCAA would not let you represent the school you are actively coaching so as not to get an unfair advertising advantage.

I'm of the opinion the movie was borderline racist because every African American in the movie, from the neighborhood drug dealer to the the NCAA investigator, was at odds with, or didn't appear to give a crap about Oher....and I found it that hard to believe.

Kudos to you for coming back and explaining your opinion. :hi:

I don't know if you know much about Memphis, but the portrayals in the movie are very accurate. I was born and raised there. I can see why someone who doesn't know Memphis could infer a racial bias, but if you know anything about the city, you'll know that it's actually that bad.

Another poster mentioned they didn't even film the movie in the city. Know why? The freakin city is so corrupt they tried to shake down the production company for the "privilege" of filming in the city. So, they went to Atlanta, paid a nominal fee for a filming permit, which is normal in most big cities, and made their movie.

I agree everyone is entitled to their opinion. But, just as you appreciate folks responding with respectful, thought out posts, I think many would also appreciate a little forethought before throwing the term "racist" on something.

TBH, after reading your posts, I really think you are too intelligent to fall into that trap. Seriously.
