How long will any pitcher hold up???
The first part of his post is correct. It’s why extending him prematurely was never going to be the right choice.

Your question re: the second part is also correct. Truth is, vast majority of these guys are ticking time bombs.

Correct, but I'm not giving a huge contract to a guy who's had TJS and possibly needing it a second time. Add in Max's hamstring problem, illness last year in the playoffs and past history. I'm not breaking the bank for him.

This is why the Sean Murphy trade was dumb
This is why the joe jiminez trade was dumb

It baffles me that we can exit ST making roster decisions based solely on who has options remaining to preserve depth after spending the offseason shedding all talent remotely close to the major league level in hopes of mildly upgrading

The sickness part is irrelevant but yeah, I agree

I really wish we had Tarnok at the moment.

Maybe, maybe not. He competes his tail off and gives what he has but he is frail. Him losing 2 lbs would be like strider dropping 20. His body composition 100% plays into whether or not I would extend him. Jmo

Lol, he’s on the 60 day IL and hasn’t thrown a pitch this year
Not all the way relevant.

My buddy text me that AA will just go get a rental starter. Easy response, with what?

We emptied the little cache we had to solve a problem that didn’t exist. If there’s one thing that happens over 162 games, it’s new problems. You use your farm system to build or to replenish your ML roster. The murphy and jiminez trades accomplished neither.

It’s weird that they’re “adamant” about no TJS but prepping for a long recovery and total ST reboot.

That story ends in TJS a lot more than it doesn’t.

I’m not saying extend him or not, it’s the gamble of pitchers extensions or long term deals. They all pop at some point

We have nothing to trade tho, and our only perceived asset can’t beat out Orlando Arcia and has no position.

How was trading a guy that probably won’t be able to catch long term for the best catcher in the game dumb??? Willy isnt that good and the sooner y’all realize that the better

That last thing I want to watch is 15 more starts of Tommy Milone.

Probably won’t be able to catch based on what? He’s fine back there. Whatever the difference from Contreras to Murphy is not worth the payroll dollars that we obviously covet and talent outflow that we obviously need.
