The Braves Thread

This might be an incredibly stupid hot take, but I wonder if they'll miss Spags retiring more than Andy. That isn't to discredit Andy; he's one of the greatest NFL head coaches of all time, but so much of what they do is based off of Mahomes's wizardry that I'm not sure can be taught. It seems forever ago now, but Andy was 100% an "almost, but not quite" coach until he got Mahomes, and even then they still lost twice to Brady.

Other than Chris Jones and Trent McDuffie, what awesome players does KC have on their D? It seems like that defense is almost always more than the sum of their parts, which is probably Spags's coaching.
Andy was at, or near, the top of the list of coaches that didn’t know how to use their timeouts for several years.

Yeah. He was universally thought of as a pretty good, but not great coach until 5 years ago. Hell, he started off 2-5 in the playoffs at KC until the first SB win.

Other than Chris Jones is a really big “other than” ha. Easily one of the best players in the NFL.

Dude is almost as important as Mahomes.

Chris Jones is just a step down from Aaron Donald. Both are generational talents.

Over the years the Chiefs have had a pretty dominant defensive players. But Chris Jones is what makes their defense work.

I still can’t believe the Raiders were like “let’s hire Pete Carroll at 73 instead of Steve Spagnola”. That’s crazy to me

I think his tenure in St Louis, even though it was 15 years ago, still hurts him. I've also heard that he isn't interested in being a HC again; not sure if that is true or not.

I don't know if any DT, just by the nature of the position, could be almost as important as a transcendent QB.

But mostly I was just contrasting their defense to their offense. Their offense has playmakers all over the field; the defense has a couple of very good players, but then after that it is just guys. Not bad players, but not difference makers either.

That 11-41 record as a HC isn't a great look. 2nd worst record for coaches with at least 50 games coached in the Super Bowl era.

It’s truly bad but man if you’re down to Pete Carroll at least try and hurt a division rival

IF Shakir had been the primary target on that play, he’s probably still running to this day. But he wasn’t, KC called a good blitz and got a little lucky also, and that’s that.
