The Braves Thread

This is why I could never be a journalist: “Hey Alex, after a third straight disappointing playoff performance, you said payroll would go up and yet you cut over $30M from last years payroll and somehow ended up under the luxury tax, what changed in those months?”

If AA (or Liberty Media) was honest, they'd respond with "Because the value in owning professional sports franchises doesn't come from owing a good team necessarily; it comes from just owning a team."

PS: "And we have been good the last several years, including a WS title, so shut up."

I think last year's opening day payroll was pretty close to current payroll. Final payroll was around 236 million, but that is after mid-season additons.

I think there’s some sneaky over player prop value in SFG-CIN. Haven’t decided where I’m going there yet. Unfortunately Webb is one of those guys who gets lit up when I’m with him and CGSO when I’m against him.

Hunter Brown Cy odds something I’m going to monitor. Same for Logan Gilbert. Profar to lead the league in runs scored at 200-1 is interesting. Brent Rooker might hit 50 HRs. Langford MVP longshot to watch.

AL is wide open, awards and teams. Like Rangers and Red Sox. Rays are getting a lot of pub. The NL is very not wide open, IMO. Dodgers-Cubs-Braves divisions. Cubs can’t compete in the postseason without a significant acquisition or two. Dodgers, Braves, Phillies only real NL pennant possibilities, crapshoot postseason caveats apply. The Cubs opening schedule is brutal, their division odds will look much nicer towards the end of April.

Last but not least we are high on YOUR ATLANTA BRAVES.
