Everywhere Statues Are Torn Down By The Mob, People Are Next

WASHINGTON, DC — For millennia, King Mob has targeted societies’ icons with varied goals and to varied ends, and few things are more foreboding than his desecration of civic art. Just as the targets have ranged from rulers to clergy, from tyrants to helpless, and from the guilty to the innocent, the outcomes have ranged from victory to defeat depending on the society’s strength and will. The promise of bloodshed coming alongside or following shortly after, however, is an historic certainty. The symbols of a people never satisfy: People themselves must always come next.

Ben & Jerry’s joins boycott of Facebook and Instagram ads in the US

Ben & Jerry’s said on Tuesday that it will pause all paid advertising on Facebook and Instagram in the U.S. beginning on July 1, joining the ”#StopHateForProfit” campaign.

Last week, a group of six organizations, including the Anti-Defamation League, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Sleeping Giants and Color of Change, called on Facebook advertisers to halt their spending on the social media platform during the month of July. They’re asking large brands “to show they will not support a company that puts profit over safety.”

Patagonia, The North Face, REI, Upwork and others have since said they’ll follow suit.

What would you do with $70 billion?
We know what Facebook did.

They allowed incitement to violence against protesters fighting for racial justice in America in the wake of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, Ahmaud Arbery, Rayshard Brooks and so many others.

They named Breitbart News a “trusted news source” and made The Daily Caller a “fact checker” despite both publications having records of working with known white nationalists.

They turned a blind eye to blatant voter suppression on their platform.

Could they protect and support Black users? Could they call out Holocaust denial as hate? Could they help get out the vote?

They absolutely could. But they are actively choosing not to do so.

99% of Facebook’s $70 billion is made through advertising.

Who will advertisers stand with?

Let’s send Facebook a powerful message: Your profits will never be worth promoting hate, bigotry, racism, antisemitism and violence.

Please join us.

**** off to both this group and FB

Not good:

So the black people directly involved in this branding don't like the idea of changing it. Is anyone going to listen to them? Who exactly was offended anyway? It seems like this was a snap decision by Quaker. They didn't do their due diligence before announcing this
I wonder if the family gets a percentage of profits and if so would they lose that if the name and image changes.

UNLV Purges Yosemite Sam-Style Mascot

In 1983 the University of Nevada-Las Vegas replaced its Confederate mascot with a mountain man bearing a striking resemblance to Yosemite Sam. The cartoonish mustache and complete lack of Confederate garb, however, were not enough to save him from administrators, who last week removed a statue of the mascot following student complaints about its "racist roots."

And neither are you, which is the point that you can’t seem to grasp yet you and your ilk get to determine who is “righteous” enough to have a statue and who isn’t. This country and every other country in the World was founded by imperfect people. Trying to whitewash it, literally, because you think your sins aren’t nearly as bad as there’s is hypocritical.

It is rather comical that someone is calling someone else imperfect like it's a rare and tragic flaw, and can't see the flaw in his own comment.

So how long before Volunteers become problematic as white colonial era blah blah blah. And coon hounds that sounds pretty bad too. How long before this hits even closer to home?

Don’t forget the Tennessee Walking Horse. Lots of racial injustice inherent there too.

Man Vandalizes Idaho's Liberty Bell with an Anti-American Sentiment

Patriots decided to stand guard outside of the Idaho Capitol building in Boise on Saturday to keep an eye on the Black Lives Matter protest that was taking place. Citizens were concerned about potential vandalism that has been seen recently all across the country. And their concerns proved justified.

A man in an older white Geo Prism pulled up to the capitol, got out of his car and etched "F** USA" into the state's Liberty Bell with a knife.

The bell is hard to read so which moron can’t spell f***? Is the guy that carved it or the person writing the article?

This is the most fun I’ve had since COVID took over. Watching all the MAGA Neanderthals losing their minds over all of this. Gator Bait, Aunt Jemima, Uncle Ben— See ya. Looking forward to watching the Ole Miss brats go nuts when they come for that name. The matriarch of the plantation ain’t surviving this either.
