Meh.My first memories of cancel culture were as a good little Southern Baptist Republican boy, telling my friends that going to Disney was a sin and helping make signs in Sunday School for the adult protest at The Last Temptation of Christ.
Then I recall the Dixie Chicks damn near going under when expressing their opinions after 9/11.
The right invented cancel culture. The left appropriated it.
There’s a difference between a protest and cancel culture.
I’m not sure where the line is but if you’re in entertainment you should probably know your audience. It’s not surprising that people don’t want politics in their entertainment.
A Hall lost his late night TV show because he would not shut up about politics. Nobody called for protests. They just quit watching. That’s kinda where the Dixi Chicks were. They could not shut up about it and it cost them big time. Hell they even wrote a F you song to the fans. That’s just stupid.
