The colts run

Problem for Colts fans is that Peyton isn't healthy. He might not be on the PUP anymore, but that's no surprise. If he had been on the PUP on Sept 2 or 3 (can't remember which), he would've been automatically ineligible to play for the first six seeks. It doesn't say anything about his health. I think they play three games with some combination of Collins/Painter under center and go 0-3. Never bet against Peyton, but the division is more wide open than it's ever been. Nothing would surprise me this year, including a Colts playoff berth or a losing record with Peyton under center for 16 games. I tend to feel that a losing record is more likely, though.

Whatever the case, I'm just glad football is back and Titans fans a little more reason for optimism than we did six weeks ago.

When will Titans fans quit worrying about why people are fans of Colts and worry more about why they can't get to the playoffs or when they do on occasion why they can't win a game? By the way there is no difference in pulling for a team because of a certain player being there and pulling for a team just because they happen to play in the same state in which you live.

Now to the question, with a healthy Peyton this is still the best team in the division. Houston is better and they are the only team in the division that has a chance to knock the Colts off.

Do not confuse them possibly winning the AFC South (which they won't) with them being the best team. They are not the best overall team in the division anymore.. Peyton still has a couple of years left... but he is not good enough to win despite the suspect defense with all the injuries and practice time is missing. Father time is catching up to Peyton.

Besides this is Kerry Collins team now.. haha

No way Peyton misses 3 games. And I guarantee there won't be a losing record. Your Titans still finish 3rd at best

If father time catching up with Peyton means him throwing for 4700 yards with several key players missing on offense, I will take it.

Will all of you colts fans still be there when Peyton is gone and you guys are barely winning 3 games?

Just curious.

I root for the pro team with Volunteers on the roster. Otherwise, do not give a crap about pro football.

College football is far and away better. No contest!

True, but I need something to do on Sundays! Plus, I've been to several Titans games, and they are pretty fun. If you've never been to an NFL game, I suggest you try it. You may get hooked. It's a different animal watching professionals in person.

Guarantee I will

Would you be a Titans fan if they moved to LA? If the Bengals moved to Tennessee would you then be a Bengals fan?

I know you keep throwing the 4700 yd figure out there, but he threw the ball 679 times last year and had the lowest YPA since his rookie year. Up until last year, he'd never thrown more than 600 passes in his career, either. Pretty indicative of a team that is overly-dependent on his arm. And, furthermore, it's also evident that, without Peyton, the Colts offense is completely inept. You can't tell me that Colt fans are comfortable with where he is with his health. He won't be crisp when he comes back, and his timing will be off.

I'll fully admit that I view the AFC South through two-toned blue glasses, but I don't think the Colts scare anyone in the division and there's a real sense of vulnerability around that team.

We'll see, won't we?

I'm a Peyton fan (not Colts fan) after the Titans have been eliminated from the playoffs, mathematically or otherwise. That being said, I hope Peyton gets at least one more ring, and then gets the hell out of the league. With him gone, the Titans really are the perennial favorite to win the division historically. Maybe not this year, but I'm impressed with the moves we've made in the offseason, and I think our offense will be the best it's been since 2008. I think our passing game will be the best it's been since McNair.

No doubt. I graduated from Tennessee the same day as Peyton and watching his teams take the field made my college experience better than I could have imagined. He was hosed out of that award whose name slips my tongue and I will root for him until he retires. I also didn't grow up with the Titans and didn't like the Oilers.

Exactly. I started pulling for Peyton and the Colts because Indy was such an awful team when he got there....they were the AFC's version of the Detroit Lions. If you live in Tennessee and pull for any other team like the Patriots, Steelers, Packers, Saints, etc it is ok with Titan/Oiler fans...but years of being owned by Peyton has created this bitterness that it is wrong to pull for him and the Colts.

The Titans aren't going anywhere anytime soon. They are not reliant on one player to put butts in seats. Even during subpar seasons we still have a full stadium or very close to it.

The Colts were close to getting the hell out of Indy before Manning arrived.

I would take Peyton in a wheel chair over anything the Titans have to offer at QB. He may not be crisp but he will come on, it's a long season. I think you Titans fans are a little to excited about Peyton's injury. You all have plenty of issues to worry about.

I disagree. College football is filthy dirty and highly unregulated. I still love watching on Saturdays, but it's not the "pure" product many college fans claim it to be. At least the NFL doesn't misrepresent what it is, unlike the NCAA. Major college football is NFL-lite, except the kids don't get paid but the NCAA and conferences rake in billions, so I'm not sure what the difference is anymore. The NCAA claims they're all amateurs. Hogwash. I used to be a bigger college fan, but not now. Still am a Vol fan, though.

But...that's just my opinion and I certainly know that there are others that disagree, and that's fine. Sorry to derail the thread.

The Colts suck hard. :)

The Titans might have sold out all their games but many of those games especially lately have been far from full.

I know they are not moving, I was throwing out a hypothetical situation. Most of if not all of you follow a team only because of where they happen to play. No other reason.

I mean, it would be silly not to be excited to see the window of opportunity opening back up. We've been dominated, except for two years, by the Colts and it's mostly because of Peyton, so it's not unreasonable to be optimistic about the team's chances now that a living legend's career is coming to an end. I'm not rooting for his career to come to a close, nor am I wishing personal failure on his part. Peyton embodies UT football and he's made the Vols proud over the years. But any chance for us to win games is fine by me.

As far as Tennessee's issues, the Titans have fewer holes than you'd like to admit. They're not a sexy pick this year, and that's fine. But the team is far from being terrible. The team isn't a SB contender, but looks like it'll be much better than we initially thought.

But, yeah. Pretty easy to admit that the Colts have dominated the Titans since 2002.

Nope. It's all about Peyton.

The Colts may not make the playoffs, but I like their chances. They won the division last year with an incredible amount of injuries. The D wasn't all that bad even with a depleted secondary and linebacking group. They've shored up at DT, too. The O-line is the big question mark, but everywhere else the Colts should easily be better this year.

Most of if not all of you follow a team only because of where they happen to play. No other reason.

This is the most ridiculous argument.

OF COURSE people root for teams based on their locations. What's wrong with that?

I see you live in Murfreesboro. You're a Vols fan. Why? Maybe because you're an alum, maybe not. I'd venture to guess 90% of Vols fans are Vols fans because it's the University of Tennessee. Why do you not find many Vols fans in Alabama? Or Arkansas? Or California? NY? Etc, etc. Location.

Location matters. To infer it doesn't is simply silly.

I never said anything was wrong with it, but guys who slam all Colts fans as only fans due to Peyton don't have an argument because they are only fans because of their teams location. I see no difference in liking a team because of a player and just because they play in the state in which you reside.

I used to have a problem with it, but don't anymore. I'll never be that way but certainly don't fault anyone for exercising their right to do as they please. :salute:
