The colts run

False.

Texans, Panthers, Browns, Jaguars, Rockies, Marlins and Rays all had fans when they showed up. Ravens, Thunder, Grizzlies and Nationals all had fans after they relocated.

Jags, Marlins and Rays hype died off because Florida has way too many teams. The rest of them have done alright for themselves. Didn't the Colts suck for a long time after they moved to Indianapolis? They've managed over that time period. Saints blew too and they still had fans.

Maybe bandwagon isn't the right word. But outside of clinging to Peyton Manning's leg, no Tennessee fan here would give a crap about the state of Indiana, let alone the Colts. What can I say... I cheer for a bunch of loser teams have always cheered for the same loser teams. So yeah, it bothers me knowing that Tennessee Colt fans only cheer for them because of one dude who played at Tennessee. I've stuck with my favorite teams through thick and thing, none of them have won a championship outside of UT football but I still pull for them. The second Peyton leaves, who are you going to cheer for? Doubt it will be a team that's losing at the time or always loses. More likely going to be a team that's winning. If pulling for the Colts because of Peyton Manning doesn't make you a bandwagon fan, the next team you cheer for probably will.

Reggie Miller, Jeff Bagwell, Craig Biggio etc. may be the reason I started pulling for the Astros and Pacers. But I've kept pulling for them since. The second Peyton Manning fans quit cheering for the Colts just because he's gone... they are bandwagon fans. Not like they would have kept cheering for the Colts if they sucked. Without Peyton, they probably will. Bandwagon fans... that's the definition.

My statement is true, Titans fans are exhibit A of bandwagon fans. I have said this a million times, I guess it takes some of you longer to understand than others. I am a Colts fan with Peyton, without Peyton. 16-0, 0-16 and anything in between.

Guess one can only be a fan of a team if they live in the same state in which their team plays 8 games a year.

Some people believe in civic, local, and state pride and support local businesses and sports teams. Does that make them bandwagon fans? Absolutely not.

and the Colts did a better job of that in East TN when PM was drafted than the titans did when they moved to TN. All the titans did was laugh at UT football which turned many (like me) against them. They should just rename to the Nashville titans and be done with it

I agree with that, I am from Memphis and as of a few years ago when I moved away, there was very little support for the Titans there.

If they came in and they had a under 500 record only a couple of playoff appearances and no Super Bowl trip. Your fan base would be much smaller, look at how many empty seats were in that stadium last season.

But Memphians have a valid reason to hate the Titans. They basically just came in and acknowledged that place is a dump, before heading to greener pastures.

It was still sold out, and has NEVER not sold out or been blacked out. That streak is threatened, but I think the streak will continue. That's with ZERO playoff wins since 2004. Yes, there are bandwagon fans out there, and the Titans fanbase isn't as fanatical as say the Browns, Steelers, or Cowboys, but it's still solid and has weathered some bad economic times to keep the sellout streak going. I think the economic environment is more indicative of the available tickets right now than anything.

In fact, you Colts fans keep saying how bad we suck, but that sure doesn't suppport your bandwagon argument. :whistling:

If the Oilers had never moved to Tennessee, none of you would be Titans fans either. I wonder if Adams ever left Nashville if you'd remain a fan.

it actually has nothing to do with it. I support one team completely and that is UT. I guess all your "state pride" stuff doesn't apply to the titans huh? They turned off a whole lot of willing fans like myself with the shots they took at my school. The Colts came and grabbed huge market share with their marketing efforts in TN. It's sad you're not aware of this

This post is devoid of logic. I feel no need to address it.

pj, I'm not saying you're wrong for not caring about the Titans, and I absolutely never did. I'm saying PM fans that aren't going to follow the Colts after it's all over are bandwagon fans and front runners. I'm also saying that many PM/Colts fans are front runners because they wouldn't follow the Colts if Peyton sucked as a pro. There's nothing inaccurate about that.

People that have been turned on to the Colts because of PM and will follow the Colts afterwards are NOT bandwagoners.

Listen, I'm not attacking anyone or saying PM fans who follow the Colts are wrong. I never said that. I'm just saying there's a front runner, bandwagon mentality for those that will drop the Colts when PM retires. That's all.

And anyone who says that Tennesseans who root for the Tennessee Titans are bandwagon fans, well, that's completely laughable. I am saying that.

I vaguely remember this, but that was 15 years ago. If you're upset about whatever was said, you have your reasons.

IIRC, and I could be wrong, I think it has something to do with the fact that a lot of Vols fans refused to follow the Titans because they said they couldn't turn their backs on the Vols.

If this is wrong, I have no idea.

they were laughing at the suggestion that UT football would impact their attendance. Took various shots at the minor league Vols. Many were from Fisher and George and were also made after the heisman went to Woodson. They had no understanding of UT's impact on the state and didn't act like they cared one bit (guess EG was still butt-hurt)

the Colts on the other hand loaded local stores with merchandise and showed every Colts game on tv in E TN that season. They made sure not to take a rabid football fanbase for granted and saw the opportunity. Many in E TN are still Colts fans for that reason.

Who said that?

The only person I've ever seen on here that said they will not be a Colts fan after Manning retires is baker. He's really just a Manning fan.

Do the Colts really choose where their merchandise is sold or where their games are televised? I think that is probably false that anybody is a Colts fan for that reason.

Of course they choose where to sell their merchandise. I believe it was said by their org when he was drafted

yes but vendors can make it worth their while if they want to push a product

Wouldn't that be the manufacturer?

The NFL just licenses the product, and wouldn't that be all the Colts do? I know they have a partial say in what can be licensed as well.

This is off-topic. But I think retailers just started stocking Colts stuff, because they knew Peyton was worshiped as a god and would have some followers in the NFL. Same reason a lot of local retailers had Berry Chiefs jerseys stocked. I don't think it was the Chiefs doing.
