The colts run

I won't know what to do when Peyton retires unless I move to a city with a team. I like the Falcons, but have never been passionate about them. Maybe Chiefs? I love watching Berry.

The Titans might have sold out all their games but many of those games especially lately have been far from full.

I know they are not moving, I was throwing out a hypothetical situation. Most of if not all of you follow a team only because of where they happen to play. No other reason.

What other reason is there? Also, I will answer your hypothetical. Yes, I would still be a fan of them if they moved to LA.

i was a Colts fan before Peyton started playing at Tennessee. And yes the Colts will lose a lot of fans when Peyton retires.

Tell me again what this has to do with Volunteer football? To your question though I hope they don't.

Because. I see just as much Colt stuff in stores than I do Vols. So obviously There pretty popular. I hate them but i just wanted to talk about something.

I'm a Peyton fan (not Colts fan) after the Titans have been eliminated from the playoffs, mathematically or otherwise. That being said, I hope Peyton gets at least one more ring, and then gets the hell out of the league. With him gone, the Titans really are the perennial favorite to win the division historically. Maybe not this year, but I'm impressed with the moves we've made in the offseason, and I think our offense will be the best it's been since 2008. I think our passing game will be the best it's been since McNair.

I think Hasselbeck is by the the best QB we've had since Steve.

Is that really saying much?

Considering the Titans have made the playoffs two times since Steve was sent packing, I'd say yes.

If we'd had Hass over that period of time, you could argue we make the playoffs two more times or more on top of that. Question is how long can Hass stay healthy, and if the OL protects him and gives him time, does he cut down on the INTs? He was good when he had Walter and Hutch in Seattle. OL for the Titans is much better than the Seattle OL over the last three or four years.

Hass last years in Seattle he didn't have any weapons or protection. He had no name receivers, no running game, no pass protection. With us he'll have a great pass blocking line, decent receivers, and an outstanding running back in Chris Johnson. I expect him to have a nice comeback type season this year. My only hope he stays completely healthy so Locker doesn't have to start.

Titans fans smh

SYH all you want because you're really going to be SYH when PM rides off into the sunset. We'll find out how bad the Colts are when they don't have a QB. The Titans have done very well considering being so handicapped at the QB position. The Colts day is coming and it's been a heck of a ride for you guys. The bandwagon will get significantly less crowded when PM is gone, too.

That's the thing that used to bother me about PM fans following the Colts. More front-runners than anything. Easy to love a winner, but hard to sit in a stadium during the hard times. Hard times are coming for Colts "fans" though. I imagine that most of the bandwagon folk will just look for another winner to root for so it lessens the sting.

the Colts were 3-13 in PM's first season. How is that being a front-runner?

LOL

You can't be serious. Rookie season, hello.

and that's when many started following them. Were those people sure the Colts would win as much as they have and are actually preemptive front-runners?

There was no reasonable expectation for him to turn around a sorry franchise in his rookie season.

If Peyton had a career like Heath Shuler, we wouldn't be having this conversation because none of the PM fans would follow the Colts and I feel 100% comfortable with that statement. Tell me you disagree that if PM had a Heath Shuler-type of career you would still follow the Colts.

Easy to love a winner.

that still doesn't explain how people who started following the Colts once PM went there are front-runners. Would like to understand how that works

Tired old argument. I really don't care one way or the other. It's only my opinion and it doesn't amount to much.

Like I said, it's your right to follow a team based on whatever criterion that satisfies you. :salute:

I disagree with this but my point was he said Matt H was the best QB since McNair. That's not hard to say since all you have had since then was VY and Volek.

I will say that my previous statement illustrates front-runnerdom pretty well. If the Colts were a losing franchise during PM's tenure, PM fans wouldn't care less about the Colts. Now that they've been successful, they're the Colts biggest fans.

See: Heath Shuler and the Washington Redskins/New Orleans Saints

Ha ha.

Front-runner can also be used to describe a type of sports fan who likes only the team that is winning. Also known as a fairweather fan, the person will quickly, and repeatedly change allegiance with athletes and teams as teams and players become "good" or "bad" based on records.

front-runner/bandwagon is usually limited to people who start to follow a team after they are successful. Following the 1998 Colts does not fit the definition. Find another way to try and insult fans of a team that beats yours

funny in that you assume people dropped another team (which most in TN did not). Could always add in "picked by zip code" to describe the oilers fans in TN

I guarantee you the Titans would not have the fan base they have had if when the first got here they were not a good team. If they came in consistently going 4-12, 5-11 and with how they are doing now. If that all were the case your fan base would be very small even in Tennessee.

False.

Texans, Panthers, Browns, Jaguars, Rockies, Marlins and Rays all had fans when they showed up. Ravens, Thunder, Grizzlies and Nationals all had fans after they relocated.

Jags, Marlins and Rays hype died off because Florida has way too many teams. The rest of them have done alright for themselves. Didn't the Colts suck for a long time after they moved to Indianapolis? They've managed over that time period. Saints blew too and they still had fans.

Maybe bandwagon isn't the right word. But outside of clinging to Peyton Manning's leg, no Tennessee fan here would give a crap about the state of Indiana, let alone the Colts. What can I say... I cheer for a bunch of loser teams have always cheered for the same loser teams. So yeah, it bothers me knowing that Tennessee Colt fans only cheer for them because of one dude who played at Tennessee. I've stuck with my favorite teams through thick and thing, none of them have won a championship outside of UT football but I still pull for them. The second Peyton leaves, who are you going to cheer for? Doubt it will be a team that's losing at the time or always loses. More likely going to be a team that's winning. If pulling for the Colts because of Peyton Manning doesn't make you a bandwagon fan, the next team you cheer for probably will.

Reggie Miller, Jeff Bagwell, Craig Biggio etc. may be the reason I started pulling for the Astros and Pacers. But I've kept pulling for them since. The second Peyton Manning fans quit cheering for the Colts just because he's gone... they are bandwagon fans. Not like they would have kept cheering for the Colts if they sucked. Without Peyton, they probably will. Bandwagon fans... that's the definition.

:lolabove:

Some people believe in civic, local, and state pride and support local businesses and sports teams. Does that make them bandwagon fans? Absolutely not.
