The colts run

lol at all the Middle Tennessee State Oilers fans on here blasting fans in East Tennessee for not supporting the Oilers and calling them bandwagon Colts fans.

There is only one true state team.... and they wear Orange and White.

So, anyway, what was that about PM's neck?

Flurry of reports indicating PM could miss 5 weeks. Start playing Taps on the Colts season if true.

So the run appears to be taking a 1 year recess. You Titans fan should not be so excited though, while the Colts will not win the division, neither will you. This is the Texans year. I believe Collins can lead us to a 7-9ish kind of season. This defense will be better I guarantee it. Personally if we can't make the playoffs I would rather play Painter, tank the season and get a really high draft pick and start preparing for life after Peyton but I know there is no way they do that.

Yerp. And this is Kentucky's year, too.

Why don't you just quit trying to bring everyone else on the board down. We're allowed to be excited about our season just like you guys are every single year.

When it's your year you can be. But this is not. 5-11 won't win the division. You think the Titans are better than the Texans?

If this year's records of the Colts and Titans don't reflect the fact that QBs are the driving force in the NFL, nothing will. FWIW, I think the Texans are the team to beat in the division, although I can see scenarios where they fail, as well. And maybe Collins proves that all he needed were some legit weapons at WR. That will be interesting to watch, as well.

Who knows, though. Just glad the season is here. I can't watch on Sunday, but will be listening on Sirius. Glad I can finally hear Mike Keith's voice on satellite.

I can see multiple scenarios where the Titans could be better than the Texans. However, ultimately I think the Texans are better because they've got better personnel. The offense is certainly better because Foster and CJ are very close in skillset and Johnson is a much more prove commodity over Britt. They've got some really nice players on the defensive side of the ball, and the secondary was upgraded. Can they transition quickly to the 3-4? I think so.

Overall, I think it's the Texans year. Finally.

volfanjustin - your suggestion to tank actually makes good sense. If you play Painter, I guarantee the Colts win no more than 3 games this year (with Collins, maybe 6 wins). If we get the #1 pick, draft Andrew Luck, and there is your franchise qb for when Peyton retires.

Good. Because it may take a little while but they will be good again after P retires.

What gives you that impression? Is it the terrible defense, the terrible O-Line, the terrible run game or the terrible coach? Or maybe it's their recent string of terrible first-round picks...

No, but I think the titans are better than 5-11

The past four years have all been "the Texans' year," except they still have yet to ever make the playoffs.

and that's when many started following them. Were those people sure the Colts would win as much as they have and are actually preemptive front-runners?

Many more jumped on once they were good and used Peyton's Tennessee ties as an excuse...those are the annoying ones

and the ones that jumped on the titans when they went to the SB? You're trying to separate fans and that's not really going to work

That was my thinking exactly. I would take a 2-14 season to get the next Peyton. That pick would put us up there for the next 15 seasons again.

I'm not trying to separate anything, it's just an age gap I guess. People my age didn't switch TO the Titans, they started there...and then a fair amount jumped on the Colts bandwagon later.

Plus, how many people outside of Tennessee "jumped on the Titans" anyway?

The big exception here is that Peyton was healthy and under center all those other years. That will not be the case this season.

I support starting Kerry Collins. :)

This coming draft is going to be deep at QB, though. Luck, Landry Jones, Matt Barkley, etc. If the Colts want to take a young QB to learn behind PM, this is the perfect year to suck.

Will be an interesting division with Locker, Gabbert, and the next QB of the Colts over the next decade.

So would I. Knew there was a reason for keeping Painter around and not doing a thing about the defense for the past 5 years. :)

I know you do. Haha.

This is going to be the year to get a QB and start the grooming process maybe. I would rather go 2-14 than 7-9

Maybe we get really lucky and Caldwell gets the axe. Early pick, get the next QB and get rid of Caldwell. It's a win/win

Living in Tennessee and not following until the super bowl trip would be fair-weather, not bandwagon, IMO.

No. The fact that the NFL in cyclical and parity is the name of the game. Hell, the Bucs and Saints have won a Super Bowl in the last decade. The Cards made it to the Super Bowl, as well.

It may take 10 years after he retires but they will be good again. I guarantee it.
