The colts run

And mannings stats the last 2-3 yrs have gotten worse. He has also been throwing his fair share.

Manning threw a lot of picks out of necessity last year. With no running game and no time in the pocket, his options were pretty limited. Last year he led the league by a lot in pass attempts, so you'd expect some more INT's. In the ESPN QB rating they don't really count picks that don't matter and picks that aren't the QB's fault, and Manning ended up with the 2nd highest QB rating for 2010.

I think the Colts finish around 10-6 again like last year. they have way too many glaring errors for them to dominate like they did 2 years ago. Will that be enough for them to win their division? Don't know. I've never been impressed with the Texans coaching staff and if Foster struggles this season because of hamstring injury, I can easily see Texans finishing worse.

I will be a Vol fan until I die no matter what their record is. Can't say that for the Colts. I guess I'm bandwaggon if that means I root for them if they are competitive. I have no other NFL team that I would switch allegiences to if/when they suck again.

If 13,202 yards, 93 TDs, 3 playoff appearances including a Super Bowl appearance is getting worse. I will take it

93 tds, 45 ints, and a super bowl loss. 2008-2010

90 tds, 33 ints, and a super bowl victory. 2005-2007

not to mention in 2004 he had 49 tds to only 10 ints.

his ints have gone up.

Injuries on D so he was forced to feel he had to score on every drive. Injuries on offense so at some points several of his top weapons were out and behind an average Oline.

Source? the qb rating order goes like this, brady, rivers, rodgers, vick. and every pick matters.

NFL Stats: by Player Category

look at a few of the last super bowl teams/winners in the past years. he cardinals, saints, packers, etc. Those teams all passed more than ran because of a lack of a running games. the nfl is becoming more of a pass happy league. a running game would obviously help, but is not required like before.

I really hope not, and am dreading the possibility of a Colts-less postseason. IMO the Texans will be our biggest competition in the division. It'll be a tight race with the Jags also threatening. With the Steelers/Ravens and Pats/Jets, it'll be hard to make it without winning the division.

He quoted ESPN's method, and you linked nfl.com.

Good job.

ESPN QB rating. You are looking at passer rating. The ESPN QB rating is a new stat that discounts TD's thrown in a blowout and gives added-value to a first down thrown in the red zone of a tight game, etc.

packers season summary: no running game whatsoever. 15 on the injured reserve. decent at best offensive line.

not to mention rodgers has been sacked most in the last 2 years conmbined.

:eek:k:

28TD and 11INTs so less TDs and less INTs. Plus Green Bay's D is better than Indy's

Good job.

i dont understand using that system. interceptions are interceptions. there is no other way around it. good job peyton manning, you need a espn modified system to be 2nd overall in passer rating.

:good!:

if that espn system had so much significance they'd mention it during nfl football games which i have never heard them do. also, favre, cutler, etc's stats would be off the charts if all those ints didnt matter on their records.

Peyton will truly carry this team, because overall talent wise, there ain't much. At all.

You're out of your element here, Donnie.

The reason you've never heard of this stat is because it is brand spanking new. The stat is actually a much more accurate indicator of QB quality. For instance:

Say you throw an INT that came off your WR's hands first, that's his fault. Passer rating puts that on the QB and that ain't right. QB rating does not penalize the QB.

Say you throw a 5 yard out and the WR takes it 80 yards to the house, under passer rating you get credited with an 85 yard throw, under QB rating you get credited with 5 yards.

It's a much better indication of the QB's contribution.

Yep. Or you're down 7 points at the end of the first half with 5 seconds left on your own 30, so you throw a hail mary into quadruple coverage and it's picked. Meaningless.

I don't actually know if it would exclude that play, but I am in agreement with baker. Passer rating is flawed.

No, you're right. In fact Manning had a pick on a hail mary last year and ESPN showed that as an example of something that wouldn't count against the QB. Conversely, a hail mary also isn't likely to do much for your QB rating if you complete it unless you did something amazing like escape a sack or something.

I am a Colts fan because of Peyton Manning. Then they added Tony Dungy and I reeeeally became a Colts fan. When Peyton is gone, so is my fandom. Unless they get a new head coach who rebuilds the team with class and vision (like Dooley) and isn't a thug (like Fisher). I liked 'em when they had CPT Comeback, so maybe I would stick around. But not likely.

Bud Adams owns the Titans. I hated him when they were the Houston Oilers. I hated them when they were the Memphis Oilers. I hate them now when they're the Nashville Oilers. Until they fire Bud Adams, I'll continue hating one of the worst people in the world. If the Raiders moved to Knoxville, guess what? I'd still hate the Raiders.

And I would LOVE to hear from somebody about how much you'd like the Titans if they moved to Birmingham, AL.
