The Consol Center Postgame Report.

My quick hits:

1) Scotty Hopson played like an All-American today. I think he is showing he has turned the corner.

2) Tobias Harris played well despite the lack of scoring.

3) Trae Golden continues to impress every single game. His D was good today, he's the best distributor on the team, and he just has that "IT" factor about him.

4) Really disappointed in our bigs, but it wasn't easy because...

5) The refs were complete and utter garbage. I'm not someone who usually rags on officiating, but that was atrocious, and clearly, clearly biased. Just horrific.

So true. Pathetic display on the calls tonight. I was so mad, but glad our boys fought hard for the win.

Amazing, amazing win. Hopson is playing up to his potential and then some. His last few games have been the most impressive of his career by a mile. He is playing confident, attacking the basket, hitting open shots. Everything. Today was easily his best game as a vol. I don't think he turned the ball over in the lane once, which blows my mind. Great win today. We dominated this team. Dominated.

Without the officiating, which again, just wow, we beat this team by 20 points, easily. If the refs weren't sending Pitt to the line every possession they could not score against out half court defense. We are a very, very good looking team right now.

One of the most impressive parts of Hopson's game to me is that he doesn't fall in love with 3-pointers even if he makes a couple of early ones. Nice to see that.

I love that really. If he has an open look, take it, but he didnt force any 3s. He made some great mid range shots.

1. Great win for Tennessee. They now have the best resume in the country.
2. That's Scotty Hopson's finest moment. He completely dominated offensively.
3. Tobias Harris showed how valuable he is without scoring. His rebounding and distributing were huge.
4. Cam Tatum was excellent. He found the holes when Pitt tried to concentrate on Hopson.
5. Pitt isn't as good as they were two years ago. That team had two solid NBA guys and this one may not have any.
6. I don't know what Jay Bilas said about Mike Slive, but everyone on press row was getting emails and texts saying he killed him. Kudos, Jay.
7. The difference in this game was Tennessee's perimeter quickness. Pitt had no answer for that.
8. I'm surprised Jamie Dixon didn't try to post Ashton Gibbs up against Melvin Goins and Trae Golden. He couldn't beat them off the dribble, so I thought he might try to go over the top of them.
9. The ballhanding miscues are always going to happen with this team. The difference this year is that the defense is good enough to mask them.
10. On to Moon Township for Robert Morris-Youngstown State. Two games down, two to go on this trip.

Agreed with all of this!

Also agreed with all those that said the Refs sucked! Is there any way the NCAA could go back and review that foul on Williams by Gilbert Brown? That would have been the equivalent of a helmet to helmet in the NFL! Totally uncalled for!

Hopson played a fantastic game! That's what I expected when he came here 3 years ago!

The bigs played fine. I'll take that effort from Fields and Williams every single game. Not sure what you're talking about.

We've beaten two teams away from home that are most likely as good or better than any SEC team we'll face.

They didn't box out like they should. My opinion. I thought they got tenative also because of the officiating, and there were some dumb fouls.

We outrebounded the best rebounding team in the nation. Fields was a beast, and Williams played fine. Nothing at all to be disappointed about.

We out rebounded them because they shot so poorly and we shot so well. They still got their share of offensive rebounds.

This is the best Tennessee basketball team I have ever seen and it is because of its defense.

Offensively they are better, but are inconsistent. With their D and a solid offensive showing, they will be hard to beat.

I am looking forward to this team getting better as well. The addition of Maymonn should also help.

This should be the best team Tennessee takes to the NCAA Tourney.

I liked the comment Bilas made about Slive that his giving a suspension to Pearl when it is an NCAA matter was like the State stepping in and sentencing someone for a Federal crime. Not their jursidiction.

And Goins is the best on-ball defender UT has ever had. Best in the SEC and in the running for the nation.

They got some offensive boards. I expected a mismatch inside. And it wasn't. If you had told me before the game that we win the rebounding battle, I think I would have taken it. Some of you guys apparently have insane standards for our posts.

Just sayin' - if the shooting percentage had been pretty even - we wouldn't have come close to their rebounding numbers - it was obvious that's what they're good at when they actually got a chance to rebound.

We shot so well they didn't have near as many opportunities.
