Hopson's baseline jumper near the end of the game (maybe in the 3-5 minutes range) was one of those "wow" shots. And that was when I called ballgame.

Agreed. That and several times when Scotty drove to the basket and threw it down with force.

Best game of his career.

No doubt. Nice to have a tall perimeter guy that can create his own shot and make it.

Just sayin' - if the shooting percentage had been pretty even - we wouldn't have come close to their rebounding numbers - it was obvious that's what they're good at when they actually got a chance to rebound.

We shot so well they didn't have near as many opportunities.

Maybe, maybe not. They had 15 offensive boards. We had 10. I was just saying that it was definitely not a physical mismatch as I expected. To be disappointed with that effort is a little delusional, imo. But, let's just all be happy that we won the game. Go Vols.

We out rebounded them because they shot so poorly and we shot so well. They still got their share of offensive rebounds.

Tennessee offensive rebounding rate: 44%
Pittsburgh offensive rebounding rate: 43.9%

They got too many, it could be argued, but they average 49%. Also, note that they're #1 in the nation in offensive rebounding percentage, and we just beat them at their own game.

I think a lot of ours were loose balls that we were just quicker to - or really lucky bounces. Pitt had some where they straight up just cleared our whole team out of the lane - their starting center is a monster - dominated Brian Williams a few times.. like when he get the rebound on a missed Pitt free throw.

No one on TV wants to admit it but the ONLY reason Slive suspended Pearl was to take some of the Press off his money pot this season. CAM.

The problem I saw from floor level with the officiating was that they couldn't decide how to call the game. They let it go for a while, then called every little touch.

Glad to have Hat representing VN up there tonite.
Takes a brave soul to deal with Pittsburgh, much less in the winter time.

did you not think it was one sided, or are we just watching the game through our orange colored glasses?

I shook Bilas' hand on the way out for the Slive comment. Can't wait to see how that is received at the SEC offices.

Agreed, but don't you think the refs were a little more one sided?

Our big guys were very physical today and took Pitt's big guys by surprise. Hats off to Williams, Fields, and Hall for bodying up and taking Pitt out of the game inside.

Whatta bout that Fields 2 handed spike block??? I came outta my seat for that one, that and the time Scotty split the 2 guys on the perimeter, took it to the hole and threw it down! BOOOOOSH!

That was maybe the worst officiated game since the 1972 Olympics gold medal game.

The officials missed calls both ways, but always saddled us with the cheap calls. The only thing that made the number of fouls and free throws attempted somewhat even, were all of the intentional fouls that Pitt committed to get the ball back in the final two minutes.
