Would you all please stop your ignorant ranting! I'm tired of you fairweather fans who look for any excuse to have something to b*tch about. Look, if we were winning these close games you all would be PRAISING him at every turn. Instead, you promote your loyalty by BASHING a guy for making a mistake.

Before you bite the hand that feeds you, ask yourself a question. WHERE WERE WE BEFORE HE GOT HERE? He put our basketball program back on the map. Where would we be right now if we still had Buzz or Jerry? I'll tell you, NOT WATCHING TN BASKETBALL. SO why don't you all get behind your team. In the end Bruce made a big mistake.. but he will learn from it and I PROMISE you he will have us back to where we need to be. It takes time.. something VOL FANS CAN'T COMPREHEND SOMETIMES.

Give it a rest, please. It's annoying and you look foolish.

I wish fans like you would take a hike, that think if Pearl leaves we automatically go back to .500 basketball. That's just insanely stupid and shows an extreme lack of common sense.

Bruce is the only coach in the whole world. What's foolish is people acting like we can't go hire someone better.

And you guys wonder why people side with hatvol more and more with the brilliant logic of continuing to act like UT basketball has to go back to Buzzball if Pearl ever leaves.

If people are unable to form their own thoughts and side with hatvol by default, then they are idiots. There's more than enough intelligent reasoning to counter hat's agenda.

Can't say I want him to go but it wouldn't be too bad either. He is a great recruiter and motivator but not a great coach. The NCAA will kill recruiting and the team doesn't give 100% every game for him. Basically what he is best at is already being taken away.

Play calls and execution are why we have continued to lose all the close games. Both fall on him. The last play of so many close games we lose, we look so unorganized and settle for an off balanced 3.

3 things: first, you call some fans fairweather yet you yourself wrote that if UT had Buzz or Jerry, "WE" wouldn't be watching UT bball. So, you admit you wouldn't watch UT bball if they weren't as successful. So, who is fairweather? I have watched UT bball just as much now as during the Wade days, so kindly step off. Second, "it takes time" doesn't cut it. He is in year 6, all his recruits and by his own admission the most talent ever, yet digressing and playing 2 guys who didn't have 1 D1 offer. Third, this isn't "one mistake", it is about his attempt to cover it up. People like you simplify it, try reading the letter UT sent him.

If people want Pearl fired because of his NCAA issues or they just don't like him, then fine. But considering what he's accomplished during his tenure at Tennessee, it's absurd to call for his firing just because this team is struggling right now.

Oh, and as much as I appreciate Pearl, he isn't the "hand that feeds us", fans are the hand that feeds him. Bruce Pearl has never put food on my table and he hasn't personally funded UT bball. Without 20k in the stands the first couple years, Bruce isn't where he is as far as pay and facilities. Bruce turned it around, but fans got behind it and bought tix and popcorn. Ask Buzz how important selling popcorn is.

Agree. I think most fans feel the way they do due to his actions. I don't "want" him fired, but think he needs to be fired for the good of UT. I like him and appreciate him but will never think any coach is bigger than UT. My view has nothing to do with performance, I just tire of people calliing others 'fairweather' fans if they think he should be fired. It seems to me that a fan that values UT bball more than he values just one coach is anything but fairweather. Some of us have been on this ride a long time, and will stay on regardless. I respect anyone's views, just not loving the OP calling others ignorant esp when he contradicts himself and gives simplistic argument.

I have mixed feelings about what should happen with Bruce Pearl. I agree with the original poster about Pearl putting TN basketball on the map, but he has also given TN basketball a black eye. Yes, he is human, and he made a mistake. It would be nice just to be able to move on, but it doesn't seem this black eye is going away with the way the media has handled this situation. It is hard not to love Pearl. I love the passion, the fire, the loyalty, the charisma, the ability to motivate, etc. It just seems as of late, the team and the fan base are slipping away from him. To say that UT basketball will die after Pearl, I think is incorrect. We as a fanbase and a program have tasted consistent success, and I believe our school will go out and find someone very capable of feeling that spot if it comes to that.

I'm not big on the 'fan card' arguments either and I prefer reasonable posts such as this one of yours over extreme posts which try to classify everyone as a "sheep" or "negavol".

My post wasn't defending the OP and I certainly don't think anyone who wants Pearl fired for his actions are fair weather fans.
