BTW, I don't even want Pearl fired, but don't insult me by acting like he's the only coach that can have success at UT.

I'm really tired of the same Bruce Pearl debates in every thread over and over and over. I know I can't be the only one.

From now on, this thread will become the place for those discussions. Offending posts in other threads will be removed or merged into this one.

It's very similar to what we did with the Fulmer discussions at one point.

If you have an issue with this, have questions, or believe you have a better solution, send me a private message any time and I will be happy to discuss it.

Did he start a thread solely about Pearl or was it a thread that was talking about the actions of the posters on here wanting to fire coaches and yank scholarships? After you figure that out, then look at Freak's OP and ask yourself does it fit in this thread. Last I checked, Freak didn't say that he was going to merge all threads that would start a debate. Because if he were to do that then every single post would be in there as every post could be debated.

My dad, giant Bruce Pearl fan and constant fan of UT basketball since the 1950s (!), called me up an hour after the game tonight and said: "That's it. You're right. I'm done with Pearl and I want him gone."

This has been a tense family conversation for a couple of years. Not anymore. Crappy coaching times NCAA investigation = Get The JA Out Of Here.

I'll just point out some facts that will undoubtedly spark instant debate with the Pearlophiles. Jerry Green: 71% winning percentage at UT. Bruce Pearl: 71% winning percentage at UT. Jerry Green: 2 East Titles in 4 years. Bruce Pearl: 3 East Titles in 5 years. Each have 1 SEC regular season crown. Pearl's Elite Eight is all that separates them.

With that being said, Pearl is the better coach. But, that goes to show that many people other than Bruce Pearl can win at a high level here.

You forgot the most important stat.

NCAA Tournament records:

Green: 3-4
Pearl: 8-5

Pearl's record far surpasses Green in terms of real accomplishments and, while I don't think Pearl is the only one who can win here, getting rid of Pearl for anything other than the NCAA stuff makes no sense to me. People wanting him fired now, but not when the NCAA stuff came out, is ridiculous.

Pearl: 3 Sweet 16's (60% appearance rate)
Green: 1 Sweet 16 (25% appearance rate)

Sweet 16's are the benchmark to high level consistency IMO.
