Do you want Bruce Pearl to be Head Coach at UT next season?

If you think O'Niel or Buzz Light Year recruited you are mad......

we couldn't even sniff top 100 Players barely until Bruce came around. Now we have 10 or more every single year on the considered list.

.... you couldn't give away a lower level ticket.... hell we would play ranked teams with less than 500 students in attendance outside of the UK game.

Wow, that response of yours really went in its own little direction, didn't it?

I didn't say anything about any other coaches. I just said Pearl hasn't recruited well. In fact, I can think of 3 Pearl recruits who have panned out in 5 and a half years: Chism, Hopson, Harris.

It's nice that we've had our name associated with top 100 players. Unfortunately, not many have actually COME here.

And what do ticket sales have to do with anything? Obviously Pearl can fill an arena and win games. I only said he hasn't recruited well.

Disciples? Good one. I was a Pearl fan until his idiotic episode of lying to the NCAA over a secondary violation, crying at a press conference talking about how he learned a lesson, then less than a week later, knowingly commit a violation.

My fault. I meant to tag the above quote. It has been thrown out so often i got confused. Just fire me and get it over with

Devoe's best season (wins wise) at Tennessee was 22, Bruce Pearl has only won less than 22 games in a season once at Tennessee (21 wins in '08).

They played less games back when Devoe was coach. First 6 years of Devoe averaged 20 wins a season. Pearl's first 6 years [assuming they win 20 this year] average is 24 wins. Pearl has done a great job in his first 6 years but Devoe did a good job in his first 6 years as well. Devoe's last few years were not as strong. We do not know what the future hold for Pearl.

And you were right. I came up with Chism and Prince.Prob should add Hopson but didn't list Harris just becasue he is a freshman. Buzz's top 4 yielded Pearl's first 3 stellar years and got ball rolling. Imagine how the Pearl era would have begun had Buzz not saw something in a walk-on JuJuan Smith or a Lofton who was likely headed to Valpo. Not saying Buzz was the guy, but you have to credit him with spotting potential when noone else did. Skylar McBee, Ramar, and Swiper are 3 of Pearl's that I question. Marques Johnson as well

And if he does get fired, some of you need to stop rooting for the Vols since you automatically think we'll go back to Buzzball.

It baffles me how people think that there is no way we can find someone as good as or better than Pearl.

People have a lack of faith in Hamilton and after Kiffin can you blame there. New coaches = change. Change is leaving were you are comfortable. We are compy cosey with Pearl.

The letter brought nothing new to light, and the school has already taken a stand backing Pearl for month's now. I don't understand the "if Bruce stays threads" and the numerous articles written on sport web sites about him possibly being let go or resigning. It looks a lot like the tail wagging the dog and I think as UT fans we should make it known that we want Pearl to be our coach. The facts that we know are that the AD and Chancellor are backing Pearl and doing it publicly. Why shouldn't we take that for face value? If you back Pearl get on these boards and let people know about it. All I ever see on here is negativity It feels great having a basketball program to pull for finally. If you don't back Pearl I can understand why and respectfully disagree with your opinion. Vol for life!

This thread brought nothing new to light. I support the positive outlook but there are so many threads on this already.

And I respect yours and the civility of your post. The thing about taking it at face value is that Hamilton's future is in doubt as well, and he has to back Pearl because he would likely follow Pearl if he were out. Regarding the chancellor, UT has a new president that they didn't have in September, so that could be a game changer, perhaps. Just a thought.

If Pearle were black you can bet your bottom dollar Jemele Hill would have vehemently defended him and called it a racist move to fire him...she is terrible!

Apparently the powers that over the program are standing behind Pearl. So until they decide otherwise I will support their decision. I read these post and think of
the liberals who support the troops, but, will not support what they are doing. You can't be a little bit pregnant.

Strongly disagree. Look at what the NCAA did to Calhoun for similar violations, and the SEC and UT punished CBP much worse.

Also, the "show cause" letter alone won't suspend Pearl. The AA will have to hand down a suspension on top of the letter. The "show cause" may only affect recruiting. To early to tell.

That's complete nonsense being perpetuated by our AD and blindly repeated by Hubbs, who has become an echo for the AD of late. (Notice he was one of the last to get news UT had the letter and was even saying he didn't think they had it after the national news reported we did, showing how completely dependent he is on the AD's good graces for information).

Just read any show-cause order on the NCAA website. It always says something like the following whenever the coach is still employed at the locale of his violations:

"Therefore, the former track coach is banned from performing any athletics-related duties at any NCAA member institution for a three year period commencing March 11, 2010, and ending on March 10, 2013. This institution (which continues to employ the former track coach) and/or any other institution that employs the former track during the three year period shall, pursuant to NCAA Bylaw 19.5.2.2-(l), show cause why it should not be penalized if it does not ban the former track coach from all athletics duties during the three year period."

As for any former coach, it always makes clear that is applies to "any" institution not just "any institution other than the one they committed the violations at," the asinine interpretation being hocked by our mini-Mike-Garrett, who share more than first names apparently.

"During that period, which begins on July 14, 2010, and ends on July 13, 2013, the committee restricts the athletically related duties of the former head coach at any employing NCAA member institution as follows."

Yeah, the f--- you approach to the NCAA really worked for USC well.

True. Pearl's principal ability has been his on-court coaching and his off-court personality, not his ability to actually win over top recruits until Hopson & Harris.
