Well, I've had about all of the moronic garbage I'm going to take from you. Welcome to ignoreland.

Just can't help myself you are always so certain you are right. But your sense of justice does not seem that of a student of the law. You wear blinders and you will walk off a cliff someday while yelling insults and condemnations.

All Pearl was guilty of with Deon Thomas was providing facts and evidence but attorneys dont understand this.............

Yeah. There is a segment of the population that knows nothing of basic human nature, rules and regulations and how they are applied.

It's not dumb it's a disease. A disease that insecure nobodies have that place most if not all of their self-esteem in associating with a collegiate program.

So "Ws" @ any cost is okeydokey with them because without the wins, they go dig holes or climb poles or try cases with their entire lives out of synch.

Sad ***hs and look at the poll. 2 out of three are sad ***hs.

I have one word for you, dude...."lithium".
I have two for you.

Sad ***h.

What I do want is that "Summer's Eve" Hamilton NOT do to the basketball program what he's done to the football and baseball programs. If ... IF ... the decision is to replace Pearl, there MUST be a plan in place with a replacement secured, interviewed, and ready to announce before any action on Pearl is taken. You just don't go off and react. You must plan to act. "Summer's Eve" couldn't pass management 101 and should be the first to go anyway.

He won't have such a plan, and if he does, it will be a crappy one. He needs to go with Pearl.

The guy is a winner. Thats why he won't get fired. Thats why someone like Tressel of OSU won't get fired either. if any of these 2 had sub .500 records they'd be fired in less than 2 seconds. It's why Calipari has a job... I voted "yes" btw.

OK, let's project to the future. CBP is going to be suspended at least 1 full season, maybe two. His assistants lied as well, so who knows what punishments they will get. So who coaches the team in his absence? Then, when he does return, how in the world is he going to recruit? He can't get the kids he wants now, much less with a show-cause on his resume. He lies and can't put kids in the NBA...quite-attractive.

Bruce Pearl transformed UT basketball and I hate to see all of this happening, but keeping him is going to tear it all down.

Precisely. See Quinn Snyder. Pre-NCAA inquiry, he made the NCAA tourney 4 straight seasons, made it to the Elite 8, and had a winning record in the tourney. Then the lid comes off his program, inquiries begin, and he struggles to .500 seasons the next 3 years, before he's canned and the program takes years to rebound.

This is the third poll I've seen. One on GVX,one on Volquest and this one. All are a large majority in favor of keeping Pearl. It's good to see the large majority, of Vol fans are forgiving folks, not a bunch of moralists that continue to believe that they're above reproach and never sinned in any way.

We're forgiving because we're hypocrites who only value winning, ego and our AD values $. Problem here is being forgiving to extent of keeping Pearl is ultimately going to cost us winning, ego & $, too.

People are using the same excuses for Tressel. "Everyone cheats, lies, etc." It's a bunch of bs.
The reputation of the school is more important than that of a coach. BP has done a lot for the basketball program. Only now it be more bad than good with the coming sanctions.

It matters not in the least what we WANT...the wheels are in motion and the result will be whatever it is regardless of what we WANT.

In my opinion, Bruce will be gone.

As of right now the people that matter want him as the coach, doesn't matter what i think. I'm not pouring money into the University, nor do i hold season tickets.

I think it makes the University look transparent and the only concern is how much money Bruce is making them, but it is what it is.

I think if the penalties are severe and i think they will be , then it once again it looks like another bad move on a few peoples part to keep him. There has been a rash of bad moves at Tennessee involving the UTAD in the past few years. So it's not surprising if this all comes crashing down another bad decision wouldn't be surprising, almost expected at this point.

I am late to the discussion but because of my age (55), I do have a good memory of Tennessee basketball. First and foremost Bruce is in real trouble because he lied not because he cheated.

Cheating is always wrong but there are degrees of cheating. His "cheating" consisted of too many text messages and a cookout. He didn't pay anyone off (see Alabama); he didn't have players cheat on exams (See Calapri).

Not telling the truth is also always wrong. To Bruce's credit, he was the one to call the NCAA back and admit it. We don't know if he was on the verge of getting caught or truly had a guilty conscience. Only he knows that.

But here is my real point of this reply. In life when we do good things, we earn "brownie points". When we screw up, husbands, wives, employers look at our screw up and our brownie points and weigh them against each other to determine what happens next.

Bruce Pearl has earned more brownie points than all the other Tennessee coaches (except for Ray Mears) combined. That's why Don Devoe would probably have been fired if he had done the same thing Bruce did. That is why Bruce is still loved and still the coach of the Vols. It's that simple.

You guys are way over the top in your hatred and cheating drivel.I think its ridiculous that a BBQ and a bump is the crime that is worth firing a coach.Yea he lied about a stupid fing rule that is like telling a cop you didn't know the speed limit. If I thought he had really done something agregious then I might feel differently.

You just proved your ignorance with that phrase alone. Since pulled pork was not involved it can not be called a barbeque. Cookout.

What I want to happen isn't the same as what I think should happen. I want the NCAA to come out and say, it wasn't that big of a deal, thanks for coming clean, here's your slap on the wrist. But what I think will happen is major penalties. In that case, I though UT should get rid of him.

No!!! I love mediocrity. Let's go through 3 or 4 half a** coaches until we find a good one 10 years from now. Bring it on. Nice 500 team and not worry about winning or going to the dance. Life will be much less stressful.

I think the overwhelming majority of 3 or 4 different polls really tells how people feel. Yes, we all agree that Pearl made a bad mistake by lying. However, we want to give him one more chance. I will agree that if the sanctions are so bad that it will hurt the University, then it is time for him to go.

The sanctions, even before they are announced, have already negatively affected the University.

No question, you are absolutely correct. Many negative affects. However, time heals lots of wounds every now and then. If we are lucky to some out of this situation with not too bad of sanctions maybe we can overcome. I know down through the years there have been coaches that have done the same or even much worsel Look at all the turmoil Bobby Knight caused at Indi for years. Many others too numerous to mention.

If we had luck pulling the Savior of our program from a mid-major, then we can sure as hell do it again.

There's a 95% chance he'll get suspended for 2 years. How about we work with the assumption that he's gone.
