I want to believe he will learn from this and clean up the program. Yes he's been irresponsible and an NCAA penalty is to follow, no doubt loss of scholarships. But I still think the program is better off after he came here then before.
So I am a bad person because I think what happened with Pearl is much ado about nothing. One day karma will stare you in the face and you will find out your not hollier than thou.I do believe in second chances and have faced death and realized that people are not all they pretend to be.

He committed another violation 4 days after his tearful press conference.
This team isn't any more talented than the 05/06 team Pearl took over.
When Stephen Pearl and Skyler McBee are seeing playing time, that's not a good thing.
UT had finished dead last in the SEC with an overall losing record when Pearl took over, and that was with the leading scorer and rebounder graduating. There is no way UT is that bad now.
I'm not defending the way Pearl handled the NCAA he's obviously got to be held accountable here. Is it enough for him to be replaced at UT as coach? I think he clean up the program after the penalities are handed down. He has to know if a year later there is another investigation with more penalties he will be gone.

I am 55 years old. I am a UTK grad ('77) and have been watching Tennessee BB all of my life. I have been to hundreds of games and believe that I have a good (albeit subjective) perspective on Tennessee BB. Pearl is by far the best coach we ever had, yes including Ray Mears. Tennessee BB has never had the consistent success that we have had with CBP and those of you who think we can snap our fingers and get a great (yes, I said GREAT) coach again are smoking wacky tobbacky.
He did not murder anyone. He did not pay off an agent or player. His biggest sin is that he lied and then he fessed up about it. There have been much worse sins such as Jim Tressel knowing about it for months and months and not telling anyone at all! If we never allow any coach to make a mistake and then redeem themselves, we will never have a coach for long.
