There are just a whole lot of collective issues that are adding up for me regarding Pearl, both on and off the court (bball related, not personal life). If he gets a season ban and/or the program gets major sanctions, that will push me over the top.

While Mike Hamilton has publicy endorsed Pearl and told anyone who would listen that the plan is to keep Pearl, I'd say the reason Bruce has a job right now is that was easier and maybe better to keep Pearl for the season, than jettison him. No coach of any value is going to be available to replace him. Once the findings and, or punishment is handed out, it will be much easier to fire Pearl.

One question to the people that would have a better understanding, does Pearl still have the protection afforded him in his last contract? It seems that someone did an article that referenced Jim O'Brien, former OSU coach, and stated that Pearl had more security in his contract than O'Brien. I know that his previous contract was terminated and no new contract has been signed.

The regular season champion IS the SEC champion. For the most part the SECT is a complete waste of time unless you are on the bubble.

I guess this will be the only thread allowed for men's basketball, being that it's virtually impossible to separate a basketball conversation from the impact of Pearl's decisions.

Can we also merge coaches leaving rumors into one thread? Football arrests? Recruiting rumors? Most topics are beat into the ground, let's just merge them all and have a 10 thread board.

The football forum survived with one Fulmer thread. And we still managed other discussions after merging all the black uniform threads into a single fashion design thread.

I'm sure we will be okay. If it doesn't work, I'll be the first to admit my idea was a failure and we can go back to the previous way of doing things.

I wasn't comparing the two beyond the fact that they've both dominated the conversations here at one time or another.

If the NCAA announces sanctions it won't matter if Pearl is there or not. They will decide based on sanctions already addressed. Assuming he is fired who do you think is willing to come to Tennessee and take a backseat to football that will put UT in the NCAA?

Those of you who think Pearl should go should have your heads examined. This season has been very frustrating in lots of ways, to be sure--but Pearl has revived a UT program that had absolutely SUXED for 20 years. We came very close to getting to the Final Four last year. Lot of very short memories around here. We need to get the ncaa business behind us, stick with this coach--and move on and move up.

Cant speak for everyone else, but I want Pearl gone because of the NCAA stuff. The season we are having doesnt really have much to do with my opinion on the subject.

It's a race between Wes Rucker, Mike Griffith, and Basilio sidekick Alex Anderson to see who can come up with the most creative explanantion as to why none of this is Bruce Pearl's fault and everything is just fine.

Stop it! Keep Pearl, everyone deserves a second chance. I suppose none of you have ever lied in your entire life..give me a break. If he screws up again, then yes, fire him but as of now, he's our guy like it or not..

Take Lofton, JaJuan and the in-game intelligence of a Dane Bradshaw away and this gorilla gets to a half ton.

None of our lies are going to result in serious sanctions for the Tennessee basketball.
