The DeSantis containment thread -- all things DeSantis go here

Since fascism requires government incorporation of the corporation, corporate fascism is run of the mill fascism.
Except that i think in this case, the poster meant a corporation employing fascistic policies against its employees, not a government entering into a fascistic relationship with corporations.

That's a clear 3rd party vote then

Who then, in a third party? Libertarians have the right idea, but they keep trotting out equally unimpressive candidates. Green Party? Nope. Where’s Ross Perot when you need him? (In before “six feet under”)

I don't think that Donald Trump will run. Trump wants to be the center of attention in 2024, but I don't think he really wants to be the President again from the age of 78 to 82. Trump will wait until the last minute to announce that he isn't running (November of 2023), and then make the pursuit of his endorsement, a degrading butt-kissing contest for the remaining Republican Party candidates.

I think that Ron DeSantis probably will win the Republican Party nomination, and also be elected the 47th President of the United States in November of 2024. That's just my unprofessional opinion. I hope that I'm wrong... but I wasn't wrong about Joe Biden winning 3 years ago was I? LOL.

DeSantis will win in the largest landslide since Reagan in 1980. Especially if Biden (more likely Harris) runs as the DNC nominee.

Companies doing that now typically lose employees and quickly end those policies. This isn't the 1800-early 1900s anymore.

We are way too tribal now for that to happen, but DeSantis will win back Georgia, Arizona, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan for the GOP. I would expect the electoral college map to look just like it did in 2016.

I think the midterms will be the gauge

I think the House Dems will get clobbered in the mid-terms because it's a helluva lot harder to rig HoR elections. Senate may flip but barely since Dems control the election boards in the majority of population centers. Same applies to presidential elections, win the big cities in most states and you win the state.

Still better than the microwaved turds served up by the 2 party system

I wouldn't be surprised if Nevada and Colorado come into play as well. Maybe even Virginia.

And say goodbye to Pelosi. The Squad will demand she is removed.

And probably get it.

Talk about the ultimate impeachment insurance with having AOC as Speaker.

I'm pretty sure the Rs will take the house with a substantial majority. Probably the senate with a slim, 1-2 seat majority.

Apparently, the pollsters have moved Washington State to "likely Dem." That's a huge move honestly.

Fascism is a a form of government, a company dissuading tobacco use to contain costs is not. If smoking bore no increased cost, neither employer or insurer would care.

Certainly government (and judiciary) can impress its societal - not just economic - goals upon industry; we see the profuse evidence in our fascist-lite system of corporatism with stick/carrot incentives and penalties. Which, in the past 14 months has become more substantial than 'lite'.

We should aim higher. Much, much higher

If DeSantis is a more measured, better spoken version of Trump - which he appears to be - he'll do just fine. Third or multi-party systems abound and none of them have fewer problems or are less removed from the people that this republic.

If a people don't manage two parties, more isn't the fix for a populace that has grown lazy in defending its liberty from government intrusion.

DeSantis is govt intrusion. A better spoken Trump is still a terrible leader. I think DeSantis would be better in that respect but his decisions are unlikely to be better. Pass

Disagree entirely; besides being a terrible communicator which left him open to the vilest of propagandist massaging, Trump innately was more right than policy and military experts were on a range of issues. His populist America First message was right, and necessary. He understood fully the bureaucratic state usurpation and the American Marxist revolution that even now, some Repubs don't get as if they're stuck in 1980s Washington. Because he's a coarse bastard who nut-kicks them right back, he probably brought forward into light these subversives a decade ahead of time. They think this is their time and this is a full frontal assault on every American norm. It's not enough to even be a Leftist; one must be an anti-dissent Leftist.

Let perfect be the enemy of good, and when we get Joe, Kamala or Clinton, tell yourself your vote didn't do it.
Again.
