The DNC convention thread -- all things convention go here

He fights imaginary battles or ones he created in his mind. It's the way he needs to operate and is not conducive to deal making
And yet he just brokered a peace deal between Israel and United Arab Emirates.

Was the Russian Collusion investigation/narrative conducive to deal making?

Was the Ukraine quid pro quo / impeachment farce conducive to deal making?

Who that opposes him in Washington has been open to deal making?

I’ve not seen any genuine effort from the Democrats to work with Trump on anything in the past 3-1/2 years.

Neither side has made an effort. The fight started early on and neither did anything to help. However Trump had a gop congress and still got very little accomplished. That tells me it's more than democrats who don't want to work with him. He doesn't know what he's don't and surrounded himself with similar people

I'm a gun owner who is paying attention. The NRA is not the protector they claim to be

He's done more damage than his "gun grabbing" predecessor

Fair enough. What did he do? I'll tell you what he did that was huge that you may be overlooking. Your gun rights are dependent upon the Supreme Court. After the McDonald decision, it was clear that you are one vote short of having your right to a handgun removed:

McDonald v. City of Chicago - Wikipedia

Trump put on two pro gun justices and in the case of Kavanaugh, you have a guy who believes that you have a Constitutional right to an assault weapon. That's pretty "out there". I would think you'd appreciate that but it appears you don't.

Kavanaugh is a terrible justice choice

Bump stock and red flag laws. Trump likes them

insurmountable debt? Gun rights (shut up hog), stealing money from defense to build a border monument, EOs, etc

His main issue is he completely lacks any communication skills
The debt I agree is a huge problem.

The debt service itself will eventually bankrupt the country.

Not sure how we get our way out of that - probably another monetary reset. I personally would like to see the end of the Fed.

I’d much rather have him as President than a McCain or Romney type.

So how is he the proper head of the fiscal conservative party?

If you're concerned about second amendment, and that's what we're talking about here, then you can't do better than Kavanaugh.

What the hell is a Carmel iced coffee and why would you do that ?
It's a combination of espresso, milk, mocha and toffee flavored syrup over ice with whipped cream and caramel sauce. Not my taste or even really "coffee" in the truest sense, but I've tried it and I know someone who orders it regularly.

Eh?

Between the late 1800’s and 2008 the Supreme Court didn’t incorporate the second amendment against the states except with respect to militia service.

In 2008, they adopted a broader interpretation of the second amendment and in McDonald they incorporated that interpretation to the states.

The Supreme Court has been on a recent trend of expanding second amendment protections. There was no imminent second amendment rollback from the Supreme Court.

I’m snarling my nose up but I would try it because of the Mocha and Carmel . Mostly I just have a hang up with there overpriced products. They do carry something that I started buying when I lived in California.. they have a huge slice of iced lemon cake that is amazing to me .

Why would a republican support Trump other than party loyalty?

And I don't mean in a Biden vs Trump way. I just mean overall why is he the one to lead the party
Have you seen the politicians on both sides.... the Dems has four years and came up with Joe biden

Here's your "eh?"...

In the McDonald case, Chicago attempted to take away an American citizen's right to own/possess a handgun. The Supreme Court properly decided that no, the 2nd Amendment says you can't do that. If Chicago can take away your guns, any municipality can. We don't have a Constitutional right to bear arms if a city can tell you no, you can't.

I'm concerned about much more than that.

That's beside the point if we're discussing gun rights. In terms of gun rights, you won't find a more gun friendly justice than Kavanaugh. Trump put up with a lot to give you gun folks a pro 2nd amendment guy

He put up with a lot because it was a terrible choice. Never should have even been nominated

I really like his policies. In fact I like his policies better than any President since Ronald Reagan. Here's a list of his policies that I agree with:

1) Deregulation of the private sector
2) Tax cuts for small business
3) Better trade deals with China and North America
4) Get out of the Iran Nuke deal
5) Get out of the Kyoto climate change deal
6) I like his SCOTUS judges and some other federal judges he's appointed. They're much better than some appointed by other Republicans, i.e. Souter, Kennedy and O'Connor.
7) Support of the 2nd Amendment
8) Pulling our troops out of the Middle East
9) Being against kneeling for the national anthem
10) Secure our borders (enforce our existing laws)
11) Crack down on sanctuary cities
12) Put Americans first
13) Space program
14) Voter ID laws
15) Repeal Obamacare-although he and fellow Republicans have failed at a replacement plan
16) Make NATO nations pay their fair share
17) Support of Israel

That's a pretty long list. I don't think most Americans agree with 17 policies of a President very often.
Couple of issues here:

15) The Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) has been gutted, but it was never formally repealed. The Republicans even failed at that. Remember McCain's famous thumbs down?

17) Every American President since Eisehhower has shown support for Israel. Per The National Jewish Council, Israel received $20.5 billion in foreign military financing during Obama's presidency. Obama also became the first president to approve the sale of "bunker buster bombs" to Israel. During Obama's presidency the U.S. and Israel participated in the largest joint military exercise ever to be held between the two countries (Austere Challenge 12). This is nothing special to Trump,
