You get potentially zero help as a higher seed because they weight geography way too much. WF being our 2 when just last week they were potentially a host would suck. I have had this sneaking feeling for awhile now though that we are destined to draw WF. I think the Committee in all college sports puts this stuff together with storylines in mind, resumes be damned.

And not only "storylines." There appears to be a lot of playing "favorites and enemies" involved.

At least one could reasonably ask: if a committee wanted to stack the deck against us, what better options would they have? You might have an answer to that. I don't know.

And insofar as a "story line" goes, the higher in the tournament a battle with WF appeared, the bigger the story. Since the "story line" is even bigger if it includes Burns playing in Knoxville, the Super Regional would be by far the bigger "story line."

Btw, I still say we should have gotten the 1 seed in Arizona in basketball.

Ohtani looking like he might make a run at the NL Triple Crown. Leads the majors in BA, tied with Ozuna now for the NL lead in home runs, and 9 RBI behind the NL leaders.

Reynaldo López continues to amaze me. I had no idea this guy was going to be this good. Can only imagine what this staff would look like with a healthy Strider.

Wake wouldn’t make it out of that Georgia regional. And even if they were lucky enough to do so, they would still have to go through FSU/Southern Miss/Florida. No way they are making it to Omaha with that projection.

I feel bad for Lopez. Pitched a great game and his bullpen blows it for him. Snitker pulled him at 83 pitches. Should have let him try to get through the 7th and bring in Minter in the 8th. Jimenez has been trash in this 8th inning. Great job Snitker, great job 👏

Y’all thought I was joking whenever I said we might end up being 8 games back by the time we get through the Pirates series. Blew this game and have to hope we salvage Game 2 or that’s a freaking 4-game sweep and we will be a full 6 games back. I’m sorry but if you can’t win 1 out of 4 then what are we even doing? You cannot get 4-game swept AT HOME.
