That’s how I feel about it. There used to be some good rivalries. Who wants to sit and watch cars go around a circle for 4 hours? I realize they have road track races now but still, any kind of racing for me I’m not watching that long.
I’ve really come to enjoy F1, now that NASCAR sucks.
Not that I was ever a diehard but I would tune in occasionally and at least keep up with it.
I never stop on nascar if I’m flipping the channels but I will stop if I see an open wheel race, especially F1.

Can you believe how good he is? I thought Ozzie Albies was the most underrated player in MLB...it may just be William Contreras.
Hot take...
He is quietly putting together an MVP season.
Ohtani, Ozuna, and Contreras would be the leaders right now. I was upset whenever we traded him and I’m even more upset about it now since Murphy has only been able to play 1 game this year. Contreras always had the making of a star and they gave up on him for a marginal upgrade at the time. By far the worst trade AA has made.

The only time I watch F1 is when the Indianapolis 500 comes on. To attend those races live is insane but fun (so I hear). You certainly can't see the cars go by bc they're such a blur to watch them go by. Better to sit at home & see it on TV.

@VolPack22 The last thing I would want to do is restart the discussion about what might happen in the NCAA. But for informational purposes only and no response necessary: (1) I lower my guess to 30K salaries from 35k to allow for some prudent wiggle room. (2) I remembered that Tennessee itself (not NIL) is already paying every athlete across all sports 6K a year now ($5980), which became permitted now as a result of the Alston decision). (3) Tennessee approved and the school set up a foundation that could handle salaries. Apparently the idea is to somehow do it through a non-profit organization. I wish I could be non-profit! I think most SEC schools now have such a foundation ready. (4) It may come to pass that the schools could themselves pay NIL. (5) The NCAA apparently wants to prohibit booster organizations from participating in the NIL. This last is a horrible tyrannical idea imo. It would end the present era of free competition and the parity that is fast rising among top tier teams, and permit the corrupt NCAA to use its investigation powers (both police and judge) to do its normal historical tyrannical thing: overlook everything at the pet schools, and go after their pets' rivals to influence or even determine outcomes. Just an informational update of things I later thought of.

Yeah I don’t see how the NCAA is going to prohibit anything related to NIL. The salaries the kids are about to get paid are suppose to be completely separate from NIL. They are just setting themselves up for more lawsuits. It would basically be like telling a professional athlete they can’t to endorsement deals on top of their contract with their team. The NCAA is grasping at straws to have any sort of relevance in this new era. They are about to be obsolete and they know it.

No DH ever has won MVP it's a position players award.

If a DH wins the Triple Crown then it will definitely happen. Other than that they would have to lead in home runs by at least 10-15 and have a huge margin in RBI, along with a competitive slash line. It’s going to happen at some point but traditional voters tend to vote for two-way players because they still value the defensive aspect of the game. It’s usually an offensive award though, a lot like MVP in the NFL and NBA.

I like this from John Elander

The whole pitching lab at Wake Forest got a lot of undeserved press last season; but let's look at what Frank has done in the most powerful offensive conference in college baseball while also occupying the most hitter friendly park in that league.

Maybe that should be name on the stadium?

You remember that bull___ infraction the NCAA hung on Vitello? Because, although we already had unofficial information on the kid's grades, the official transcript hadn't arrived before the visit (because the other school intentionally held up its delivery)? Isn't that the only time in the history of baseball that a team tampered, according to the NCAA? Or who else did they ever accuse of tampering in baseball when real tampering was apparently rampant? (Idk.) And it wasn't even tampering in the normal sense. I hear that whole thing was the slime-ball Corbin's doing.

Anyway, you know, I suppose, that the NCAA's intention (before it was interrupted by the TN Attorney General's lawsuit) was to bundle that basebal nothing-burger "tampering" infraction, together with some likewise incredibly run-of-the-mill minor infraction by one of Barnes' assistants in basketball, together with the football allegation involving Nico (which itself was based on a "rule" that didn't even exist at the time of the alleged infraction. The NCAA intended to bundle all three in order to allege lack of institutional control. They wanted to wipe us out across the board. And just before the NCAA leaked the Nico accusation (and leaking that was itself an NCAA violation of NCAA rules), the NCAA voted in a small secret session to change its policy on investigatons to "guilty to proven innocent" just for us. That's what we -- and Justice itself -- needs to end.

I only go into this because, being mostly on the football side (on the surface), these details may be unknown in these quarters.

NCAA has always been out to get a school for lack of institutional control. It’s what they do. Tennessee was a big time school in the biggest conference so of course they were licking their chops. Little did they know Donde wasn’t going to roll over. Glad we have the leadership in place that we do now. The previous regime would have just taken it up the you know what. NCAA would have nuked our athletics for several years if they had it their way.

I think Saban was behind the Nico charge. He is still pissed we got him. Maybe since Corbin's wife wishes she were sleeping with another guy, he can let her do her thing, and Corbin and Saban can marry. They look like an old married couple, if you think about it.
