I think that was part of Crochet’s demands. He didn’t want to get traded somewhere without an extension. So I wouldn’t worry about it. He will probably be in Boston long term.

I wouldn’t be so sure. Red Sox ownership has become allergic to spending money. Everything they do now is about being as cheap as possible. They weren’t willing to spend money on Fried, they likely aren’t going to be willing to spend money on Burnes, and they likely will try and lowball Crochet and a deal won’t get done.

I know that is pessimistic but it’s evidence-based. It’s just how they operate now.
