The Dugout - General Topics, Chat, Random Photos and Memes.......No Politics

LMAO .... I haven't watched that morning show in 50 years. I didn't recognize
the call letters that they use.
The funny thing is, I've actually never seen the show.
I only know that it exists.
If you said Drew I'll give you $1 million per name of of the hosts, it would cost you nothing. : )

And people ask me why I have never flown on a plane. Seeing that crash is sad. Nothing those people could do. “Flying is so much safer than driving.” Yeah but what happens whenever you actually do have an accident? And that happened in probably the most, or one of the most, air traffic controlled places in the world. If it can happen there it can happen anywhere. Prayers for all their friends and family 🙏

I understand the reaction to a horrific event VP, and I hope I don't come off as belittling the tragic loss of life yesterday, but statistics do support air safety. The last major crash by a commercial airliner in the US was in 2009. In 2022, 42,514 people were killed by motor vehicle accidents in the US, compared to 357 in total aviation deaths (including small private planes). I realize that there are many more people on the roads than in the air at a given time, but still. That being said, there are specific airports that are talked about as having concerning issues. Among the most prominent is Reagan, where yesterday's disaster occurred, due to the congestion of air traffic in that area. The other I have heard concerns about is San Francisco, due to some runway oddities. Nevertheless, this makes yesterday's events all the more tragic that accidents like these are rare.

The last time I flew in a plane was in 1972 to Houston, TX. Got back to the Memphis airport after a week & my car battery was dead as a door nail. Crap!! 🤣

All I know is that if I can drive somewhere without the use of the plane, I’m taking the car 100% of the time. No need to put my life in the fate of a drunk pilot or stressed out air traffic controller whenever I can get there myself.

We drive long distance all the time, but how many potentially drunk/stressed out/asleep/on their phone drivers do you encounter on a road trip?
