The emergence of Squirrel

I’d be careful judging his skill by what he did today behind an offensive line that seemed like it was made up of a pair of Cade’s left-behind cleats, a cardboard cutout of Jonathan Ogden, and a few ushers they pulled out of the stands.
While that is fair to a degree - don't you have to read the d tackle and d end - somewhat like HH does. It's an advanced offense that calls for good to great reads by the qb. I see none of that when he is in there. He does instinctively adjust and around a pass rush which is great - just don't see any reading of the defense either when it is a running play or a pass.

Not hating - just observing. If he ran the offense and made the decisions that resembled HH - I would say so. He ran the offense and made the decisions that led me to the conclusions that I made. I think he has an option of reading the dline and adjusting accordingly. He wasn't reading anything again imho.
Well maybe you should watch again. We lined up and ran the football in the 2nd half. 52-7 at HT kinda guarantees we were getting work running the ball in the 3rd and 4th. We are banged up and could name our score. If you expected Milton to take unnecessary hits when he could really be needed at some point thats not real smart. Remember he is one bad play away from being the guy.... Smart of Heupel.

I have seen nothing to convince me that he is going to make good decisions as a qb. His accuracy has improved but he is just a big athlete playing qb - kind of like the qb at Florida. The reason we are really, really good is because HH gets it. It isn't just the play calling and alignments, it's the maestro directing the offence. I hope I am wrong - but I am not seeing a smart decision maker. It's critical at qb.

Certainly hope and pray " Not ". Milton reminds me of the Florida qb only worse - great athlete - has no ability to read or dissect what is occurring on the field. He handed off 10 times today when the play was stuffed and he could have kept it and still been running. He has NOOOOOOOO feel for playing quarterback, no feel for reading defenders and defenses, the rush, etc. He is a remarkable athlete though. How anyone ever thought that he should be starting ahead of Hooker .... including coaches - I find maddening. QB's absolutely have to be the smartest guys on the field -

He is not the answer IMHO.
He hasn’t done anything this year to warrant that criticism. He has played well in all of his opportunities.

Well he hasn't run out of bounds as the clock expired - I'll give you that. My point is that he may not be the answer - his throw to Squirrel was late - I will give you that we haven't seen a lot of him but based on last season, I would keep him on a short leash next year and not anoint him better than the other prosects just because he is the oldest and throws it the farthest. There is much more to playing quarterback. Maybe Hooker can appeal for another year.

Soooo we should just ignore the fact that he was playing against a middle of the road FCS team……?

We don’t know for sure if Jackson or Nico are the answers either. The best game Qb will emerge next year. No need for speculation this year. I’m confident we will have a sold starting Qb for the next several years.

Glad the decision is up to the coaches. He’s played well in his opportunities this year. I believe he’ll do well next year & I believe coach heupel obviously knows what he is doing. We should just trust the coaches to field the best team & do our part to support the team.

These are the coaches that concluded Milton was better than Hooker. Based on that alone - I will go ahead and opine - don't forget Coaches determined JG was our best and only option for several years - coaches are not infallible, my point is just that Milton to this point isn't a polished qb - and that the jury is still out - if you read back this started with someone's statement that Milton would be the starting quarterback next season. He is a work in progress imho.
