Squirrel stole all my corn last year. I use deer and rabbit spray on my beans and such. Turkey didn’t bother anything. But those mfing moles drive me nuts. There’s lots of woods and pasture. You can see the top of the 90 plus year old barn out in the woods. Still standing but not useable.

Is any of the barn wood sound?

Yes. Quite a bit. a lot of the internal is near perfect. The exterior was red oak. There were two hen houses in the back yard. One is still standing. with the chicken gettin stick still hanging on the side. I've got one of the small barn door hanging on the kitchen wall. Made a book shelf and shoe cabinet out of some siding. And a night stand.

We also have 100 year old stand of kentucky bluegrass. Thick and plush. Especially behind my brothers house down the road. Beautiful grass.

If you’re interested in having the old barn taken down reach out to @buckfama. He salvages old wooden structures.

Doing containers again this year. Just bought tomatoes, green peppers, chili peppers, sweet banana peppers, and basil.

Also got basil, chives, and patio tomatoes for a container on the deck.

Also got a moonlight hydrangea to put on the far side of the flower bed, and 6 coral knockout roses for the beds.

Lots of planting to do today. 🙂

I wish I could plant out the two-foot-tall tomato “seedlings” that are already trying to flower. The nights in the 40’s are holding me back. But I have to go to Denver for a week soon, and I guess I’ll plant them beforehand and let Hubs keep an eye on them.

My plants are recovering from the malady that beset them just after planting. One pepper plant didn’t make it.

And now, all the tomatoes, tomatillos, and peppers (sweet and hot) are planted, and the grow lights and heat pads can be retired. Peas were planted too late, but I’ll stick with them as long as possible. Cukes were planted ~10 days ago are are just sitting there. For now. Bean seeds will be planted when I get back from Denver.

Tomatoes and bell/sweet peppers in the fence bed, with snapdragons (bloom, dammit!) and remaining lettuce, peas, and turnip greens:

Cukes and hot*/pickling peppers:

*not hot by @Behr ’s standards

Remainder of cukes (perhaps they will grow up the trellis to form a tunnel, as intended) and canning tomatoes:

Remaining bean bed will be planted when I get back. Second tunnel will be for gourds and maybe scarlet runner beans.
