Exie, when GVG's mom passed last year we got a whole bunch of tomatoes that were canned in 2014. Would you eat them or toss them? The lids are sealed and they look good but.....

Wow. That’s pretty old…

If i were in your position, I’d toss them. There’s no shortage of tomatoes out there. 🤪 Even if they’re safe, their flavor and nutritional content have probably tanked.

Maybe dump the tomatoes (and lids and bands), wash and sterilize the jars in the d/w, buy a bunch of end-of-season tomatoes at a farmers market, and put up a new batch in her memory.

But call your county extension agent for authoritative advice. 😁

I have two pepper plants with mature fruits just beginning to change color. Two others have immature fruits. All have prolific blossoms. Two others have already joined the compost bin.

Next year, I will attempt to train the squash plants on fencing. Fat lot of good it will do if the critters are deer, possum, raccoon, or other night browsers.

Alright gardeners, I've brought in a bunch of cayenne, Carolina reapers, and ghost peppers. I've grown cayenne for years, but this is my first round with the really hot ones. I'll be drying and stringing the cayenne, but I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the reapers and ghost peppers. Any suggestions?

I’m waaaay too chicken to take those on, so my only suggestion is to take out your contacts if you use them, and wear rubber gloves. And pee first.

For the rest: @Behr
