The eternal QB debate (merged)

compared to the ucla and fla game, i thought crompton played relatively well last night.

I am sick and freaking tired of seeing Lane Kiffin not pull Crompton during a game, well hello, we were playing Ohio last night, the score should have been somewhere, oh I don't know, maybe along the lines of 60-3 or so. Now I am not putting all my blame on Crompton, the kickoff team had a miscue, well really that's about it, so yes, pretty much all the blame is on Crompton but really, actually Kiffin. This crap has gone way too far, Kiffin needs to grow a pair and sit down with Crompton and tell him, look kid, your just not qb material, let Crompton play a little TE or a little WR just a decoy or something, he is not college football qb material, nor has he ever been, it's time to live on the wild side Kiffin, I know it sounds extreme but damnit, start mixing this crap up, put in Stephens, and also run the Wildcat offense like last night with either Gerald Jones Qb'ing or Eric Berry.

Enough is enough, and Kiffin better grow a pair and I mean quick or more fans are going to start calling for his head, in fact some already are. I mean I don't know, did Crompton's dad give the University trillions of dollars, where nothing can be done here? Because obviously, it just nobody has the balls to say otherwise, well Kiffin better wisen up or Auburn will come into Knoxville, pick off Crapton several times, and win big.

you continue to show that your knowledge of sports is minimal. i agree that crompton should be replaced, but everything else you say is retarded, but that's just the norm for you.

you know whats funny, you guys are just fine being 2-2, we should be whooping ass, we have one of the best defenses, and if Crapton wasn't playing, we'd be 3-1, bottom line

I'm tired of threads like this, do I want Crompton to play? No, but do I think this coaching staff knows 20x more than I do, or anyone else on this board? Yes. Let the coaches do what they do

Idiots abound!!!! Our previous coach got fired because he let the talent pool drain. Most realize this, but there are a few that don't get it,always have been and unfortunately always will be. If anyone here thought Crompton would become Manning by simply changing coaches, seek help now! CLK is trying to survive this season and possilbly next until he can refill the pool. Stevens is a head case that got benched for blaming other players for his mistakes. CLK has already gotten our DL, receivers and tailbacks recruited and on level with any other team in the SEC. This staff was not in place early enough to land a top notch QB in last years class and this years talent was slim. It will be in the 2011 class that we get the QB CLK wants and in the meantime, hopefully Brey can come in and play quickly. But for the people like the Author of this lame azz thread, wakeup and realize this is gonna take a couple of years! CLK will win the ones he's supposed to and a few that he's not and will have the Vols on top by year three!!!! GO VOLS AND CLK!

wisen up? Is that even a word wise one?:eek:lol:

Some people just cant get over their love for the great pumpkin. If Fulmer was still coach, guess who would be starting? Yep, you guessed it, Crompton. But we would be minus BB, MT,NR,and JJ, among others

What I am thinking is, who in their damn right mind thinks that Crompton still needs to be starting every ballgame, Crompton is a freaking hysterical Joke

Is it hard to breathe up there so high up on your pedestal? I bet the air is thin. That makes cigarettes twice as dangerous.

He did. He didn't do anything wonderful, but the only real boneheadism was erased by the sideline. He had a couple of bad throws and a couple that were really nice.

We should be 3-1, not 2-2!!!!!!!!!!!

I guarantee anyone NS, can win, Lane Kiffin is keeping his promise to baby Crapton about the starting job, HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What might you use to support this point? Historical precedent exists here. How do you refute that?

Agreed, the overthrow was one that stands out to me, but their were some drops, BB on the wheel route was going to be a huge play, and the int was a 50/50 imo. Julio Jones, AJ Green make that catch, thats what makes them special, and we dont have that guy yet. But, your dead on about the fumble, just a horrendous decision on JC's part.

You've got to give Stephens a go at the spot--you just have to. I'm not saying he's going to make the passing game lots better--it's clear that UT's WR situation is terrible--but give the guy a shot. As I recall, Stephens was benched last year--after starting four games--strictly because of poor play, tho he did play poorly against Wyoming, but also because he threw a tantrum on the sidelines about something and pissed off the coaches. Keep in mind that the coaches were desperate to improve the offense last year--which is why they went from Crompton to Stephens and then back to JC--and also keep in the mind the team was imploding by the Wyoming game what with Fulmer getting sacked, etc. So there was a lot going on. I'm amazed--and irritated, frankly--by Kiffin's willingness to meekly accept jc's crappy play. I think there has got to be personal thing with Stephens or something--but Kiffin is not doing himself or the team any favors with this situation.

When the starting QB plays poorly, the back up is always the most popular player in the stands.

We all know the QB position is the wink link(thanks to brilliant recruiting by Fulmer). If we had someone we could put in(thanks to brilliant recruiting by Fulmer), he would be in.CLK isn't going to put bad players in, unless the other player is worse than him. It's the lesser of 2 evils theory.

Grit your teeth & bear it. No matter who is at QB, it's going to continue to be the weak link. I do wish Stephans would show something in practice to give them something to think about, but evidently he hasn't done it yet or can't do it.

Anyone calling for Kiffin's head is an idiot & I wish would quit cheering for UT because they are either stupid, uneducated about football,Fulmersexuals,in denial about the situation CPF left the program, or as stated before, just plain stupid.

Crompton didn't give up 300 yds passing, it was that defense you speak of, after last year, what drug makes you think we should be "whoopin azz"? People like you make me glad my parents didn't use drugs!!!

To call for a head coach's head 4 games into his FIRST season is absurd. Look at what he has to work with for chrissakes. If anyone's to blame, blame the defense. They played very uninspired last night. They gave up big third downs that kept OU alive. Aside from Chris Walker's pick six, they didn't make many big plays. The special teams needs to wake up also. Our offense is going to be dead this year, again, deal with it. It's not going to magically put it all together because the fans are pissed. There is just a fundamental lack of talent. Things will get better, but not in 4 games. CLK growing a pair isn't going to make Crompton not underthrow balls or throw into triple coverage when there's a guy wide open underneath. It's just not going to happen. And to say Stephens is the answer is questionable. We haven't seen him play in a game yet, or against any proven competition. So don't make Stephens out to be some messiah that will save the team because he would have been playing by now if he was.

After last night I suspect there will be a sad night next week. Auburn rotates QBs and has done really well with the use of the second one, and third one.....The defense will need to be well rested for the Tigers.....GO VOLS

auburn has a real oc that gets to call plays.

Any fan calling for CLK's head before the end of year 3 is no fan and doesn't understand the disaster of a program that CPF left behind.
