The eternal QB debate (merged)

I dont think your prized coach would agree with much posted on this thread. Did anyone remember that football is a team sport. You Vols are looking for an excuse for poor play. Last year it was Fulmer this year crompton. good grief.

You know who else doesn't know when to quit? Germany. Japan. Iraq. Etc. Not knowing when to quit equals more failure. He should quit. He'd do the university a huge favor by quitting.

This thread gets my vote for worst thread ever, and you my friend get the "Most ignorant series of posts ever" award for everything you have said thus far in this thread...

Crompton SUCKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bring in Stephens lets try to finish with a winning record. IMO Crompton will not allow us to do that. Jonathon :censored: Crompton

God Im sick of this kind of thread!!! CLK KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING! Stephens is obviously worse than Crompton so why in the hell would anybody want him to play? Good Lord just give it a rest and support the decisions our coaching staff makes! I am pretty sure they arent trying to lose games by playing Crompton, they are making THE BEST decision for the TEAM...its Crompton-GET OVER IT!

LOL

So then this is the logic: Stephens is worse than Crompton. Crompton is absolutely terrible. Our 4 star QB recruit (#6 in the nation) isn't good enough to play on a team with a coach that has declared freshmen will play if they are good enough.

So Stephens is absolutely terrible, and Crompton isn't going to win us any games. We will have Stephens next year -- who is worse than Crompton -- and suffer through another terrible year of QB play.

If this is the case would it not make sense to put in Stephens at some point against a lesser opponent (Ohio) to develop his skills? Crompton is a loss and we all know it -- why not develop the guy that we will supposedly be stuck with next year?

Some Rivals notes on Bray:

Bray sounds exactly like what we need. I am confident our strength and conditioning coaches can help him bulk up 20-30 lbs.

I think you are asking too much of the S&C coaches to ask them to put 20-30 lbs on Tyler in 8 months. I definitely think Stephens should get a shot to start this season and see if he can suck even slightly less than Crompton. My point is that I can't see Bray switching commits to another team because he might possibly not get to start as a true freshman. Almost every recruiting service you read says that he has as much upside as anyone graduating high school this year.....but that he likely will be too light and slow to start as a freshman. They also say that despite his O-lineman like footspeed he is a good athlete and does a decent job avoiding rushers....but those rushers are high school kids...not SEC caliber starting D-linemen and linebackers. There is no way he would drop UT just because Stephens stepped in this year and played well. That's all I'm saying.

and by the way............I never thought I would long for the days when Rick Clausen was our starting QB.

I am sick and freaking tired of seeing Lane Kiffin not pull Crompton during a game, well hello, we were playing Ohio last night, the score should have been somewhere, oh I don't know, maybe along the lines of 60-3 or so. Now I am not putting all my blame on Crompton, the kickoff team had a miscue, well really that's about it, so yes, pretty much all the blame is on Crompton but really, actually Kiffin. This crap has gone way too far, Kiffin needs to grow a pair and sit down with Crompton and tell him, look kid, your just not qb material, let Crompton play a little TE or a little WR just a decoy or something, he is not college football qb material, nor has he ever been, it's time to live on the wild side Kiffin, I know it sounds extreme but damnit, start mixing this crap up, put in Stephens, and also run the Wildcat offense like last night with either Gerald Jones Qb'ing or Eric Berry.

Enough is enough, and Kiffin better grow a pair and I mean quick or more fans are going to start calling for his head, in fact some already are. I mean I don't know, did Crompton's dad give the University trillions of dollars, where nothing can be done here? Because obviously, it just nobody has the balls to say otherwise, well Kiffin better wisen up or Auburn will come into Knoxville, pick off Crapton several times, and win big.

Well thought out post. What you were thinking about, I hae no idea, but you were definitely thinking.

What I am thinking is, who in their damn right mind thinks that Crompton still needs to be starting every ballgame, Crompton is a freaking hysterical Joke

Anyone calling for CLK's head is an idiot and this thread sux! Ohio is not a top 25 team but they're not WKU either. Start your threads after your hangover is gone!

Lane doesn't think Stephens is better. He has said as much. Also what happens when Stephens sucks? Who comes in next? This is an absolute joke. If coach makes the switch there is no going back and anyone who watched last year could see Stephens was not good at all. What would be Coach Kiffin's motive for playing the worst QB on the team? He is trying to win with what we have and in his highly paid, highly trained, highly experienced opinion he has chosen the QB.

I have no hangover, OHIO blows, they should have never scored more than 10 points last night, but yet, playing an inferior team Crapton is still throwing picks because he can't get his head out of ass and stop throwing into damn thick coverage

After last night I suspect there will be a sad night next week. Auburn rotates QBs and has done really well with the use of the second one, and third one.....The defense will need to be well rested for the Tigers.....GO VOLS

Do you recall last season. We've been down this trail once.

Yes we have been down this trail once, and yet, the coaches have the power, im sorry, I wasn't informed that Crompton decides that he is going to start every game this year.

Yea Crompton sucks but who we gonna put in? Last year NS got benched and suck daddy Crompton got the job back. Its not like we have a 5 * riding the bench waiting on his turn. I agree that we have a terrible QB playing but telling coach CLK to grow a sack is what makes me mad. Apparently he hasnt seen anything in NS that makes him think he can do any better than JC.

...calling for his head....lol....4th best recruiting inthe county...he's four games in....LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!:birgits_giggle:

A coach who has called out just about every coach in the SEC and never backed down from any statement he's made. Growing a set doesn't seem to be our coaches problem. Maybe its a going problem......

I guarantee anyone NS, can win, Lane Kiffin is keeping his promise to baby Crapton about the starting job, HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
