The eternal QB debate (merged)

OK...JC maybe better than NS but is he better than NL, if so then why the hell did we sign him?

I love that soooo many people know more than our coaches. I guess they can see every practice and know everything that goes on besides on gameday.

Nobody is saying they know more than the coaches. Anyone with a pair of halfway functioning eyeballs that has watched JC play over the last two years can see that the kid is not a winning QB, if anything he will lose games for you. There is really no argument here.

The argument is: Should someone else be given a chance? Kiffin pushed this entire "open competition" mantra and then stubbornly refuses to try another player even though the one he is playing is an complete failure. 1 good pass/4 attempts = losses. Give another deserving guy a shot. Maybe he will play better than he practices as opposed to Crompton. What's the worse that can happen, he throws a pic, the wr's aren't on the same page, the defense becomes frustrated. That all happens when Crompton plays anyways.

I have heard too many people who have more insider knowledge with me say that defying logic somehow Crompton looks better that Stepehens.

I am personally for a return to the single-wing for the rest of the year.

Because you have to have a minimum number of bodies to run practice. If we hadn't brought in a third quarterback, then there was a chance we'd be going to spring practice with Stephens as literally the only QB on the roster.

Maybe we can trade for one. Or pick one up off the waiver wire.

Dont get me wrong, I am not a fan of Crompton. With that being said there is something that the coaches see with Crompton that they do not see with Stephens. Kiffin has already shown that he does not care what year a player is, so I do not believe that is the case with Crompton either. I personally think that this staff's decision to play Crompton over Stephens speaks volumes at where Stephens is at as of now. Crompton has shown in every way possible that he is inept to being a successful QB at this level. There are so many things that we as fans simply do not know. Cromptons short comings on the field are a product of many things and alot of them are not his fault at all. This argument is very similar to that just a couple years ago. Everyone on this board (along with most of the country) was begging for Fulmer to bench Ainge in favor of Crompton. I believe it is rather evident now why they wanted Ainge over Crompton.

Yes we have been down this trail once, and yet, the coaches have the power, im sorry, I wasn't informed that Crompton decides that he is going to start every game this year.

You are by far one of the more :censored: posters on this board....When you wake up and realize that we have who we have (thanks to Fulmer) at QB weather it be Crompton or Stephens...let us all know...It doesnt matter if Kiffin pulls JC or not...Stephens (according to TWO DIFFERENT coaching staffs is no better. Face it we are lacking at QB aka team leader....Kiffin knows this...there is nothing he can do but play with the cards he was delt....If you stop and think about it it makes sense...you may as well stick with who you think is the better qb at the end of the day...at least TRY to maintain some consistency and get into what ever groove you can....

Thank Fulmer for this mess....dont blame a first year coach

Kiffin wasnt looking for a beatdown. He was looking to get something going in the passing game. He didnt "put the game on JCs shoulders". Cmon was there really any doubt that theyd lose the game? Kiffin knew this so he tried to throw it because HE COULD AFFORD TO. He knew he could turn to his running game, and thats what he did when he realized he couldnt get anything going in the passing game-8 attempts in the 2nd half. Crompton threw the ball 15 MORE times against OHIO that Florida. Why? Because he could afford to. Some say bad playcalling. I say he said "Screw the odds, Ive got to get the passing game going." Plus, he wasnt counting on the D having that much trouble nor Cunningham and the STs struggling so.

When the WR's are consistent running their routes correctly then we'll know for sure how good or bad Crompton is... and not before that. GJ has repeatedly blown patterns. Vercingetorix posted something I hadn't seen before concerning one of JC's picks against UCLA. Moore actually moved out of the way after the ball had been thrown enabling a DB to get position on the ball without going through him.

Crompton may be as terrible as many believe him to be... but until the WR's get it together we'll never no how to parse the blame.

All you guys talking about boobies has me depressed. Late last night my wife and I were awoke up by a knocking on our door. My wife jumps up and puts her bra on backwards, and it fit.

Answer the following questions honestly:
Is CLK starting the best RB's- yes or no
Is CLK starting the best receivers - yes or no
Is CLK starting the best OL - yes or no
Is CLK staring the best DL - yes or no
Is CLK starting the best LB's - yes or no
Is CLK starting the best CB's - yes or no
Is CLK starting the best safeties - yes or no
Is CLK starting the best TE's - yes or no
If you answer yes to those questions and still feel the need to boo JC when he is on the field then you should be blamed for his lack of confidence, and you should boo CLK, because it is his decision. It is not like the kid ( yes I am old enough to call him a kid) is bursting with confidence when he takes the field. Add screaming fans booing him and your only hurting his confidence and the players. It is not his fault that he is starting, all the int's are not his fault. I am not a Cromptonite or an anti Stephens and I don't want to hear if he can't handle the heat BS. Whether your still in school, work for a living or retired, let me bring 1,000's of screaming irate hostile people to your school or place of business and lets see how well you perform. And to whoever the low class individuals who threatened his life last year, I hope your caught and get prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
