The eternal QB debate (merged)

:eek:lol:Yah i was listening to sports talk on 102.3 earlier today and a guy called in and stated "the team has a nickname for NS and its well known with the team. It's PicNick b/c he tosses about 7 interceptions every practice." I had to lmao b/c all the post about Nick being the "answer".:eek:lol:

Only 1 team in division 1 has thrown more INTs than Jon Crompton so far this year. That is for games, not practice though....

Well, we already can't (and won't) throw passes...how could it get worse? If he begins to throw picks, I guess we will just start not letting him throw either. Best case scenario, we get him experience and training for next year.

Let's be honest, we are 1/3 finished with the season. Why are we so damned worried about letting Crompton "get some confidence"??? His career is over...and he has proven he will never get enough confidence to get the job done.

I'm not buying the whole "Kiffin is not starting Nick because he doesn't want to scare off recruits" conspiracy! First off, since when does the prospect of waiting until their SOPHOMORE year to start scare any recruit off? Geez do we really live in THAT much of an instant gratification society now? Where freshman QB's just expect to waltz in and start?!? Eventhough that is by and large unheard of in major college football? Second, if that is infact the case, I wouldn't want a sniveling wimp of a qb like that anyway. One that's afraid of the competition and thinks they can just waltz on campus and immediately deserve to be the starter.

Honestly, I think everyone is making it out to be more than it is. I think it's simply that Kiffin feels that Crompton is the best of what we've got to put out there. I have to trust his judgement because he's the one who sees and evaluates these guys every day.

Can we agree that some people play harder than they practice and some people practice harder than they play? Think about that for a sec.

If NS were any better than Crompton he'd be the starting QB. Period.

Kiffin wants to win as much, if not more, than anyone, and will do what's necessary to make that happen. If he really thought NS would win games, NS would be the starting QB.

Let's just agree and move on. :zeitung_lesen:
I agree and have been saying that for a while now

I agree this is the dumbest post ever. And also agree with the boobies.

You move on all you want to. Crompton makes one bone head play every 3-4 downs. Consistently stares down receivers and then still misses them with the ball. He hardly ever sees wide-open receivers as he prepares to throw his ball into triple coverage. He can't run, he fumbles, he throws so many damn interceptions that it's no longer surprising or even annoying, it's UT's version of the punt.

Now the point is, with such a sorry excuse for a QB, is there not something or someone else that should be given a chance. I think so! Put Jones back there, put Richardson back there, try Stephens (although it's really too late now. That should have been done last game) or Lamaison. Anything, ANYTHING is better than the guy that is back there. And yes I think Kiffin has some demented bass ackwards reason for not trying.

Don't worry when the Vols drop these next four, specifically due to poor QB play, there's not a soul on here that won't be calling for Crompdaddy's butt to be on the sideline!

I hope I'm wrong but I actually have watched the guy play the last two years. Coaches are game planning as if Crompton is their 12th man! How pathetic is that?

.
Dumbest post ever!

Really? Really, the dumbest ever? Huh. That's interesting seeing as how there are multiple threads about Kiffin not having any balls for not pulling Crompton. All the armchair coaches out there think that they know better than our head coach. "Put in NS so we can win some games, blah, blah, blah." It's such a tired argument and a waste of time.

But, I guess you've seen a lot of dumb post on here in the whopping 18 days you've been a member.

Thanks for joining sport. I'm sure you'll be a great contributor. Can't wait to hear more from you.

You should've ended your reply to VolsPreacher with this:

You're missing the point a little I think. It's not the mentality is the situation. UT only has 1 QB recruit and needs more. Everyone else is committed elsewhere pretty much and will have some type of competition at their respective schools. If Kiffin hopes to sway any of the big names then IMMEDIATE playing time or IMMEDIATE STARTING position at UT is definately an amazing bonus be able to offer and his only chance at switching a kid that is committed elsewhere. He can basically say "We have NOBODY else, You're the man as soon as you sign!

If he plays NS and NS looks serviceable and could be expected to improve with another year in the system then the offer now doesn't pack the same punch and the kid will most likely stay at his committed school and battle competition there since that's the place he obviously likes better anyway.

This. And also...

- we never landed on the moon
- Kennedy was shot by Castro who was hiding behind a grassy knoll
- Fulmer will be the head coach for FL next year after Urbie goes to ND

I am sick and freaking tired of seeing Lane Kiffin not pull Crompton during a game, well hello, we were playing Ohio last night, the score should have been somewhere, oh I don't know, maybe along the lines of 60-3 or so. Now I am not putting all my blame on Crompton, the kickoff team had a miscue, well really that's about it, so yes, pretty much all the blame is on Crompton but really, actually Kiffin. This crap has gone way too far, Kiffin needs to grow a pair and sit down with Crompton and tell him, look kid, your just not qb material, let Crompton play a little TE or a little WR just a decoy or something, he is not college football qb material, nor has he ever been, it's time to live on the wild side Kiffin, I know it sounds extreme but damnit, start mixing this crap up, put in Stephens, and also run the Wildcat offense like last night with either Gerald Jones Qb'ing or Eric Berry.

Enough is enough, and Kiffin better grow a pair and I mean quick or more fans are going to start calling for his head, in fact some already are. I mean I don't know, did Crompton's dad give the University trillions of dollars, where nothing can be done here? Because obviously, it just nobody has the balls to say otherwise, well Kiffin better wisen up or Auburn will come into Knoxville, pick off Crapton several times, and win big.

why don't you grow a pair and apply to MH for the HC job since you seem to tink that you are,can do a better job of coaching then LK.
i'm sick and tired of all you posters putting down our team, player's,coaches.if you cain't support them,go to HELL AND ROOT FOR ANOTHER TEAM.:neener2::shaking2:
