The Fishing Thread

I'm now a member of Murray States bass fishing club/team. First club tourny is supposed to be Sepr 18 I believe. I also get 40 percent off Dobyns rods and 20 percent off dealer cost at Tackle Warehouse.

Nice , good luck with that.

Montana is awesome. Fly fishing is so hard.

We drifted on the yellowstone for about 8 hours. It was awesome, but I am awful.

Well i've been wearing them out on Priest and Old Hickory. Flats anywhere from the mid third of tributary creeks all the way back to the creek itself. Isolated wood cover & docks. If baitfish are present saturate the cover with squarebill cranks and jigs. We've had 50 fish days the last couple of weeks on this pattern.

This pattern should only getting stronger in the coming weeks. Most water in the low 70's right now. When it hits in the lower to mid 60's this pattern will be on fire.

I'm in market for new fishfinder ; looking at the new gen 2 by lowrance but don't know if i need sidescan or just down scan ; have also been looking at the hummingbird machines ; i want to get the right one if i'm putting out that much money ; need all the advice i can get

I hear that the side scan is very hard to figure out I know I can use the down scan but am a little leary of side scan I'm a weekend warrior and with all the fishing pressure on Old Hickory I need an edge

With the humminbird side imaging you can cover a lot more water than with just the down imaging. I have a down imaging unit and its great, but i wish i had the side imaging with it. Side imaging is harder to read, but when you figure it out its awesome.

got hummingbird 898 si on back and 788 di up front really have enjoyed being able to see under docks and finding structure that I didn't know was there and study structure that I knew about If you are thinking about getting side imaging but don't know if it's worth it my advice is that it really is and to get the largest unit possible the bigger the screen the more you can see

I finished cleanin my 4 bass reels today, put in new grease & oil.
new line goin on tomorrow in between laundry loads:whistling:

depends on what you are fishing for but i'll try to help you the best i can since you are fishing off the bank.

Bass: experiment with plastic worms. look up youtube vids on the different kind of rigs and how to do them. Also try different crank baits, spinner baits, and jigs. study water temps and clarity. Although its hard since you are on the bank, search for places with brush. look for fallen down trees and stumps in the water. that is where you will have a lot of success. fishing off the bank will be a good thing during the spawning season. bass love to lay beds in shallow water usually at the start of spring.

Catfish: set up a pole with a decent size sinker. throw some uncooked chicken liver on it and chunk it out there. Also, grab some worms from a local store and catch some bluegill and use for cut bait. shad is also an awesome cutbait if you can find them from the bank.

You can never go wrong with the plain ole worm and hook for a beginner. fishing is something that comes easier with time. have patiece and dont give up. get out there as much as you can and you will eventually get the hang of it. hope this somewhat helps you

Went to Walter Hill Dam today and lost two damn baits. No bites, or anything. I want to go in the morning. Not even getting a bite hurts, but I'm going to keep trying. Anyone know anywhere to go around Murfreesboro?

Went for my 6th straight day today. I still haven't got a bass, but I should've. I was using a spinner bait, and had him on my line and lost him right before I would've got him on the boat! I cussed myself for 30 minutes. Anyone having any luck?

I go to alot of decent size deep creeks (Mill creek) and tear the bass up on roadrunners, and extremely small crankbaits. Try that, there a ton all over middle Tennessee.

Woo!

Well we came in 7th out of 35 boats Saturday with 8.13lbs. What stinks is that was only 3 fish. Had a good one get off right at the boat, that would have put us in the money. Caught plenty of fish, the bigger ones were hard to come by though. Next one is April 14th. I got some pre fishing to do between now and then.

Fish are in the backs of the creeks now. Shallow flats or points with gravel or sand. Mixture of both all the better. If there is any wind throw a blade bait. If it's still and no wind try plastics fished slowly along the bottom. Can't go wrong with that right now

Do you also post on the titans report, or did someone steal you avatar over there?
