My initial thought is we didn't even play that well, and won. We were terrible from the FT line, and that usually costs us in close games. McRae was a one man show, and got little help from his teammates offensively. Golden took some bad shots. McRae did as well in the 2nd half. Yemi REALLY needs to become a better offensive player. He has to be able to make those shots under the basket.
Digging deeper though, we limited our TOs, killed them on the boards (especially offensive rebs), and scored off of their TOs. McRae was unstoppable at times, even for a pretty good defender in Wilbekin (who has a remarkable resemblance to the artist formerly known as Prince). Once again, we didn't let a slow start depress our effort and attitude. That is a sign of maturity for this team. Starts like that used to be the death of us, and two straight games we have overcome slow starts to win.
We didn't beat UF at full strength, but we beat them all the same. This was the game of the final 5 I was most concerned about. Let's hope we don't spoil it by choking one up at UGA or Auburn. If we take care of business on the road, losing to Missouri would sting on senior night, but the reality is, that game just became a little more expendable.
Sidenote: Officiating was abysmal. Not because I think we got hosed, though we did at times, but because there was no level of consistency in that game for either team. They were bad on both ends and changed their definition of a foul numerous times. Stokes was robbed of a chance to showcase himself in a big televised game because all of a sudden, he's the big bully again that is only capable of committing fouls, and only drawing the most obvious and egregious fouls himself.
