The Foreign Trade Thread

Trump on twitter today patting himself on the back for getting trade relations with China almost back to where they were before he started a trade war.
We're not back yet. The whole plan is to get the trade imbalance with China back to a better place. It may just work. Have to wait and see.

Also the rise of centralized power in the 20th century coincided with the longest human life spans and accumulation of the most wealth in history.

What's the point of this?

Is it a total of 15% or 15% plus duties? There should be enough of a "tax" on imports to cover the costs of running the ports, customs, inspections, counterfeit enforcements, etc.

The rise of centralized power?

We're talking about central planning and the Fed. Power has always been centralized, hasn't it?

You can validly argue that the advancements of society would have been accomplished with or without increasing central planning, but you cannot argue that we would have had war on that level without central banking. It's an impossibility.

Well, obviously you've got to have the system to fund a big military.

Anyway, this is going off topic and to no clear destination.

So, no deal with China. New NAFTA deal that ain't much different than the old. Debt setting up for a huge spike. Stock market in turmoil. Price of oil spiking. Auto manufacturers slashing jobs. Stock market is in danger of being down for the year.
