The Foreign Trade Thread

Apparently we signed a bilateral trade agreement with Vietnam in 2001. I didn’t realize it was that long ago. There were no imports prior to 1994, but I didn’t know we have had a formal agreement in place that long I thought it was more 2010ish.
 
Everybody points the finger at everybody else and the taxpayers in all three countries lose their shirts.
In China they don't have much of a choice.

But you have to play the game the way it's being played or head to the sidelines.

China is slashing business taxes as it tries to stop its economy from slowing down too sharply.
The Chinese government on Tuesday predicted economic growth of between 6% and 6.5% in 2019. That's a decline from last year's 6.6% rate of expansion, which was already China's weakest performance in three decades.
"There has been a more complex and severe environment facing our country's development this year," Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said in a speech. "There are greater expected and unexpected risks and challenges, and we have to make full preparations for a hard struggle."

not watching the video, but unless they addressing the issue of China building the tech from Silicon Valley its a moot point.
