The general USC debate thread (merged)

You didn't understand what I posted so I can't help you there. I don't care what Hat does, I'm not his keeper.

Bottomline is that robvols is not contributing to discussions by being a juvenile and calling out these "traitor" fans. When I open a Tennessee football thread or any thread for that matter, I want to read about the thread topic and not whether "so and so" is a Tennessee fan. It's a quick way to veer the thread way off topic.

Back to the debate...
You are still missing the point. A real Vols fan would NOT cheer for a slap in the wrist or hope that Dooley fails. Plus rip on Pearl on a constant manner. True Vol fans want to see Kiffin suffer big time, especially the mess he would have got us into with the Infractions Committee. At least the respect will come back.

If there was a Hall of Fame for mindless babble, that would be a unanimous first ballot inductee. Congratulations. You continue to set the standard for incoherent jibberish.

It seems to me that you should be thankful he bolted if you are indeed convinced that he would've gotten UT in trouble with the infractions committee.

Also, it is possible for "true vol fans" to see the reality that Kiffin would have left UT for the USC job every time. He was a hired gun that saw a better situation in a place he had already called home once before. The only surprise for me was that USC actually offered him the job, but I had already assumed he was out the door if they did.

So, I wonder how many people will claim that they have heard something from their "source" about what the NCAA told USC today.

Please point out where someone said "I hope Coach Derek Dooley fails". Please provide some proof. I have seen "I don't think he will succeed" or "He was the wrong hire" but I have not seen someone flat out say "I hope he fails".

You see, true Vol fans can believe that the man/men in charge will not succeed. True Vol fans can have a completely negative outlook to where the program(s) is or are headed. Lack of belief in a coach's ability to lead or the direction of a sports program is not any indication of loyalty. It's just a belief.

For example, if I were to say "I do not think Obama was the best choice for America", does that make me any less of an American? Does that mean I do not love America? It's the same principle.

The schadenfreude (I love that word) of VN will either be fulfilled or unsatisfied tomorrow when the infractions are announced.

Wetzel's column on Yahoo seems to be privately begging for the death penalty while acknowledging that it's highly unlikely at the same time. Will the NCAA choose this moment to flex it's muscles??

I think those wishing for severe punishment will be disappointed. It's taken too long to develop which tells me that while the circumstantial evidence is strong the case is pretty weak.

If it's significant, we'd likely have heard about it or will hear about it today because I imagine they've already told SC.

From following some "insiders" from the SC boards, I dont think SC has been notified yet, but who knows. You would definitely think that since the announcement is supposedly set for Friday, that SC would already be notified of it within 48 hours. I am with you though, that I think we hear something today.

Slap on the wrist fellas, nothing else. SC is way to big of a cash cow for the AA to really hurt them.

all reports are they are the report will be delivered to SC today and released tomorrow. i bet by days end it gets leaked.

If SC just gets a 'slap on the wrist' this is going to open up a whole new can of worms around college football recruiting.

at this point with all the scrutiny i can't see less than a 1 year bowl ban

Charles Robinson, one of yahoo sports guys who broke the initial story tweeted today:

1 day from NCAA's USC findings, I think Trojans & Reggie Bush R going 2 get hammered. I think it will B worst penalties in decades. Book it.

This is what I heard from someone out in LA (SC fan):

2 year bowl ban, loss of scholarships and total forfeiture of the 2004 season, including BCS Championship win over OU.

Title remains vacant, much to disdain of Aubies.

2003 season, including the AP Championship remains in tact
