I can't stand black women so put that one back on the shelf. Wes Washpun could throw the ball down low to Stokes and Maymon. I'm fully confident in this fact. 100%. Golden, not so much.

With Golden out and Washpun in, it will be either a slumping man to man or a zone D. Good luck having Washpun throw the ball down low against that. And not sure about your bolded comment.

If you take Golden out of the game in the last 5 minutes, we have no offense. I can understand wanting to feed the ball inside instead of giving clutch shots to Golden, but taking him out all together would be the worst thing to do if you want to produce points.

ding ding ding!!!

golden is going to play the point bottom line, if you dont want him taking the shot im fine with that, infact i prefer the both to go down low. as you said though you cant just take him out of the lineup altogether though.

It's like he hasn't seen Washpun play offensively.

for one washpun's handles are worse than golden's they would pressure him like florida did and he would travel like he does when pressured. if he were to make it into the frontcourt though and set up the offense, as already stated teams would completely back off of him and cover up the post.

I didn't expect a win tonight but UT had several chances to close this one out. Ball security was a major issue tonight and it ended up costing them the game. Go Vols!

Conditioning is way down from recent years. Our guys are doubled over pulling on their shorts alot.

This isn't conditioning- they're just playing like 5+ more minutes in the SEC schedule than our starters have traditionally because of Pearl's automatic rotation (at the guard spots). Show me a game last year where Tatum played 42 minutes and I'll give you a cookie. In general, they play more minutes consecutively without rest - Pearl liked to cycle his players on a schedule. For example, I feel like Tatum didn't sit for the entire second half and overtime. He may have, but I don't remember it.

Tatum and Golden play WAY too much. Golden is a good player, but because of our lack of a backup PG, he has to play like the entire game against decent competition. He would be a great player if we could afford to play him like 28 or so minutes a game. Tatum would be average/above average if we could play him 25 minutes a game. There are actual options to replace Tatum, even if the only one I kinda like is Richardson.

Random notes:

I really, really wish McRae was quicker on defense. He got blown by twice, and he hardly played. He has the ability (and needs) to be a positive on the floor for 10 minutes to relieve our other guys. Well, he has the ability to to put up 20 points a game, but I'm trying to be realistic.

I can't believe we shot 50% from the free throw line. No words...

Our guys need to practice transition defense and being in awful situations more. Our turnovers weren't just turnovers - most led directly to layups on the other end.

I really hope we play better in the next game. This one was painful even when we were ahead.

Golden is a good two guard, but he's an average point guard on a good day. He's being asked to carry a team that isn't very good. McRae's problems go beyond playing ability. Tatum continues to regress, but I he's not in Cuonzo's doghouse. I was fine with the decision to not play Stokes a lot in overtime. I would have played him more than 30 seconds, but everyone needs to remember that a week ago he was just starting practice. Everyone, relax and give it time.

stokes had played some major minutes in this game, he played about the last 8 of regulatoin so i dont think it was a trust thing. i think it may have had to do with his legs he played about 10 more tonight than he did the other night, and i think thats a few more than he honestly wanted to play him. just my opinion i could be dead wrong on this.

I agree with you, too. I think it can be a combination of Stokes not fully understanding defense and being gassed. Either way, I would have felt comfortable playing him a couple of minutes instead of seconds.

According to ESPN, he played 42. I remember he was out there a ton.

Either way, why he's out there and not McRae puzzles me.

I think the main reason is that McRae has a tendency to jack up a shot too quickly. He did it last night and was pulled out immediately.

Why didnt Stokes play in OT, that was our only scorer from the 10:00 mark of the second half. This was not a well played or coached game.

Point guard and lack of consistent outside shooting is getting them beat often. I don't know what it is about Tatum, he just doesn't like to play defense.

Right now offensively they both bring nothing and are turnovers waiting to happen. I think clearly though ccm likes tatums defense more.

Which is ironic, because defense is one of his strong points if he wants it to be.

The announcers say "lazy closeout" or "slow on the rotation" about Cam every freaking game.

Oh I agree, his defense has been awful lately. However, at one time, he was one of our better defenders. He has either lost the desire to be good defensively, or his body just won't allow him to stay with quicker players anymore.

On ball, he can be ok with his length. Off the ball is terrible. If you watch, he'll just go into a dreamworld and be standing in the paint watching the ball or whatever. This happens several times a game. When he watches, his man cuts or pops out on the wing, someone yells at him and his man is catching the ball on the wing before Cam knows what just happened. Then he sticks his hand up about shoulder high on a late closeout and watches the shot go over his head. Then, his man may hit the boards while Cam is still watching the ball. Damn it kills me.

I agree with your on-ball, off-ball assessment. Martin's philosophy isn't to pressure the ball and perhaps that is why Tatum has been less effective defensively. He does get lost when he has to back away from his man and keep track of him without the ball.

Unfortunately who do we play, McRae haha.
