The Georgia Postgame Report

When I watched the Georgetown game I had the same feeling I had before Fulmer and Dooley were fired. It was that realization that it won't work and I had an odd feeling that Pearl will be back. After next year.

He and Maymon. Martin better hope and pray Maymon comes back healthy, Hubbs is as good as advertised and Golden plays like he did as a sophomore. Anything less than a NCAA invite and he should be fired.

I agree.

Next year's team has a chance to be really good, but I just have a really bad feeling that we'll underachieve. I lost a ton of confidence in Martin tonight.

Our athletic department is $200 million in debt. We can't afford to fire anymore coaches. CCM will be here for a while.

I really like Cuonzo. I truly hope he can somehow right the ship.

I agree that it is not stokes fault, but you can guarantee the opposing coaches have Stokes as #1 or 2 weapon for us offensively.

Of course they do and he still got a double-double tonight. Our guards and wings can't make an entry pass into the post to save their lives. We have zero guards that know how to pass the ball into the post. Maymon helped out Stokes tremendously because he could pass and teams couldn't double Stokes. They won't be able to do that next year.

Our guard play flat out sucks and has sucked for 2 years now. That's on Pearl and Martin for not recruiting better guards. We are a turnover waiting to happen. That's why I said I was uneasy with this game earlier today. UGA was coming in playing good ball and UT can't get out of its own damn way.

Pearl isn't coming back. Whether Martin is back after next year remains to be seen. However, it won't be Pearl replacing him if Martin is fired.

It would be a real shame to waste the roster we'll have next year.

Right now, the thing that would hold back a rotation with Mcrae, Richardson, Hubbs, Stokes, Maymon, Yemi, Reese, Trae and Edwards would be the coaching staff.

Seriously? We have gotten crapped on by Vonn Bell and Georgia today. Darn that state. Did give us Dobbs and Jenkins though. But still. Really needed some good news today.

Yep. I concur, gentlemen. I'm definitely losing faith. That was a weak effort against a bad team. Yeah, they shot the ball well. They also had a ton of wide-open looks, especially from 3. McRae is a horrible point guard and is trying to do way too much and generally playing out of control. CCM has to lean on him so much to do so many things now, he's just gassed by the end of the game and pretty much was non-existent the last 8 minutes or so. Lopez is simply overmatched at this level. Moore and Reese were pretty much no-shows tonight. Skylar hit 2 threes and 3 free throws, but then you have to deal with his awful defense. Lopez is simply overmatched at this level.

But yeah, basically, for us to win, both McRae and Stokes have to play well the entire game. McRae played fairly well the first half, Stokes played well the second half. That's about all we had tonight, and that's just not enough to beat even a bottom-feeder SEC team like Georgia.

At this point, we're fighting for our NIT lives. Sad, sad day.

1. Same story, same old ****.

2. Bernard King Player of the Game: Jarnell Stokes. It's too bad he has an incompetent coach and teammates that can't pass the ball. He would have had 25 tonight with any kind of decent...anything. Stokes is becoming the player we hope he would become.

3. To finish this postgame report, I will give you a picture to describe this season and this team:

Go Vols :hi:

LOL - love the pic. It's actually just down the road from my office here in Pasadena. Local artist created it where there is a 'fork in the road' - but I like your analogy better - stick a fork in this team, they're done...

The first half killed us. We played alot better in the second.

This. That game was lost in the first half. We are not a good enough team to dig ourselves double digit deficits and expect to climb back.

The 11 or 12 turnovers in the first half were so frustrating I was close to throwing stuff at the tv. It's the sane story...turnovers. This team can't afford to turn the ball over...there's a reason we usually win when we have <12 TOs.

no he won't. If you are critiquing the coach in regards to mistakes and how the team looks, there is nothing to argue about.

Exactly. I've got plenty of questions about Martin and whether he'll get it done. I'm an optimist so I do wonder how much of this is not having your leader, floor general and the guy you run your offense through in all-sec forward Maymon. Also, now being without the only guy on your team who resembles a competent PG in the least bit.

I'm anxious, excited, nervous etc to see what he can do next year with a healthy roster and adding a 5* talent in Hubbs.

Why would CCM ever put the guy we look to score for us at PG. A position that's not only hard to score from but takes such a toll on you. Not that some haven't scored well from there but he is not a PG in any way
