The Gods Smiled On Us...That Is An Easy Bracket

By that logic, how did we blow out Kentucky and then beat them again in the tournament. You're coming in strong with moronic logic.

So it's moronic to be dissatisfied with a potential matchup with a team that made us look foolish in our only matchup this year? A team that has arguably the best coach, who seems to get even more out of his team in March, in the country?

Would you be upset if we were seeded 3 in Kentucky's region and our only sample size was our first matchup?

It's not a question of can this team beat anyone, the tournament is a gauntlet and a path not featuring a Nova matchup would be a path of less resistance.

I don't think anyone has questioned Villanova deserving a 2 seed. Presumably, had the seeding followed the NET rankings, we'd have been paired against a 3 seed with a weaker resume than Villanova has.

But where? If we make to the that game I like the location. Indy is not so bad either. Just don't know who I prefer to meet the second game there. Mich sounds like they are down and don't have a clue about State.

With the seeding issue in mind, which 2 OR 3 seeds would you prefer to meet instead of Nova? I know we are better off with experience for all our freshmen, don't know which way they have trended.

Arizona and Villanova are tough draws. However it is March and choas happens. I think our first two games are very manageable but it will be tough once we get to Sweet 16.

2 things are clear— (1) while KY may deserve a 2 seed, they don’t deserve the top 2 seed. That puts them in the bracket with the weakest 1 seed. Their record goes to justify such an easy bracket. (2) Duke gets the 2 seed which puts them in Greenville. They don’t deserve a 2 and don’t deserve to play in their home territory.
The committee didn’t even list us as the top 3 seed.

This is just my take and is based mostly on my eye test and matchups, but the two teams I would least like to see in our case in the whole tournament are Baylor and Nova.

Yes we can beat anyone, and yes we more than avenged our embarassing loss at Rupp. But to me there is a difference in a game at Rupp in the guts of conference play - coming out flat and Kentucky shooting out of their minds & what I saw in our first matchup with Nova. Of course we have gotten better and found an offensive identity to a certain extent since then, but I saw a game on a neutral floor where one team absolutely executed a carefully constructed gameplan and one team looked hopeless and completely unable to adjust.

Did you watch our last game against NOVA?

For the record that was our 3rd official game of the season with our 7 freshmen and 1 first year sophomore transfer still getting used to Orange jerseys.

5 of those have played their way into consistent roles. KC, ZZ, BHH, JA, and JM have all come a long ways. QD not so much and Tamba just going to the training table and weight room per the plan. Even Powell has three MORE years if he wants them. Loss of ORN will continue to hurt for sure.

That's a fair and reasonable point.

Coach Cal was saying he blamed himself for loss to Vols cuz he didn't have them do a shoot around prior to our game. Whatever. Just eat the loss and shut up.

I wouldn't say easy . Villanova already pounded on us. If Vols play em again the revenge factor hopefully will help them. And even if they bear Villanova it won't be an easy win.

If Tennessee and Nova both advance
To the sweet 16 this will be the toughest 16 matchup in the tournament……probably toughest I’ve ever seen (#5 & #6 playing each other).

Im sure Nova has improved; however this was just the 3rd game and first power game for Tennessee and their freshman………they have grown tremendously.

I like Tennessee here……if this game happens; however make no mistake this should be very tough for each team.

The Sports Source did a metric that picks teams that we match up well against, and teams that we don't. Colo. St. was actually one of the teams that we do match up well against, and Loyola Chi. is one we don't. So it is actually better according to this metric that we were the 3 and not the 2 seed.

I think the team should forfeit. A 3 seed is preposterous. Let’s all protest. Down with the NCAA. Done with college basketball.

I quit!!!

I was on the Duke forums (just reading) and they think Tennessee as a 3 was crazy………but mostly want to blame KY

Yesterday I was on the KY forums and they also thought Tennessee as a 3 was crazy……and wouldn’t you know it……they want to blame Duke.

I thought it was funny.

Frankly I blame the committee……but the teams definitely would be Auburn and Duke. Don’t get me wrong Tennessee belongs above Ky……but Duke and Auburn have no business at all ahead of Tennessee.

I've decided I like it, you want to go in with a chip on your shoulder and something to prove. KY and Auburn both know they shouldn't be ahead of us, that will make them lose.
